Sir Fed Posted June 16, 2006 Share Apologies to all for not making it. I am sick this morning smileys/smiley19.gif, HR is double what it usually is and I have those nice aches and pains all over my body. Would like to just go back to bed but the young 'un has taken up residence there already so I am off to watch some mindless telly.Hope you all enjoy and I am sad I missed this one, especially because of I wont be getting any cake now! smileys/smiley19.gifsmileys/smiley6.gif

I FLY Posted June 18, 2006 Share Thanks to Michelle , Slowpoke and the sweep vehicle team(s). There is nothing quite like asking how much further it was to ride, getting told about 35kms, riding for another hour and half and then finding out that there was then still 40kms to go before the cake eating. Good day to bank for the Jock. Good to meet the faces / bikes behind the aliases.
slowpoke Posted June 19, 2006 Share thanks to everyone who came along and made it a fabulous day. it would've been shorter if we'd had more takers for the "up hekpoort" proposal smileys/smiley2.gif
epoh Posted June 19, 2006 Share Well done guys! thanks for the ride and to Michelle for organising. I agree, Hekpoort would have been so much easier smileys/smiley17.gif

MichH Posted June 19, 2006 Share What an awesome ride! We had TWELVE Hubbers arrive for the ride! Wow! The list included the tough Wild Dog and I FLY who regaled us with stories of the Cape Epic and young riding partners. We had ewep and "The Sister", please thank her from us, we all appreciated the coffee, muffins and other delicacies at Magaliesberg!Epoh, you are just too strong for such a newbie cyclist, not fair!Tazman joined us for the first stretch (not sure where you left us?!!). KC, hope you didn't have any trouble after the late finish? And you didn't even get any birthday cake on your own birthday!Perico and Cervelo were stalwarts almost to the end, but the unexpected increase in the distance (146km!) led to a great rate of attrition (OK OK, I started it!)Last but not least, the invincible Joneses, IanJ and Sonic suffered to the bitter end alongside our birthday girl of the day, slowpoke!I hope everyone had a great day, and I promise to organise the WHOLE route next time so we can plan our distance accordingly. Who knew a Subaru could fit 8 people?!!!

IanJ Posted June 19, 2006 Share I told you we should have come back up Hekpoort, would have been only 110km or so smileys/smiley2.gif.We would have had to gag Ewep though to stop him complainingsmileys/smiley2.gif.Thanks guys for a great sociable ride, SP I am amazed at how your fitness level/endurance has improved, well done! pastapouch Posted June 19, 2006 Share thanks to everyone who came along and made it a fabulous day. it would've been shorter if we'd had more takers for the "up hekpoort" proposal [/quote'] Yaa, shorter is not necessarily faster, we would have returned by 1700smileys/smiley36.gif. Thanks for a great day anyway.
