Hi - i am looking at getting a road bike for between R15 000 and R20 000.

Can anybody recommend something?

New......that will get you a full carbon bike with 105 components. The Raleigh RC6000, Silverback Monza and Schwinn Paramount 7 are examples that you can get. I would go Schwinn as Omnico's after sales service is brilliant. Check out the bike buyers guide on www.bicycling.co.za It will help a lot.

 

2nd hand, you would be able to get a full carbon bike with Dura Ace.

The Merida Scultura 904- Has FULL Shimano 105 and is full carbon. Quite Stiff, and agressive. I'm riding one. The only downside (if you want to classify it) is the Wheels. Hubs are 105, rims are a bit heavy though.

Or you can spend R15000 on a nice 2 week holiday to Mozambique and pick up a top of the line, Pro-Tour ready bike for R5000 from one of the locals.
