So I'm looking at buying a Garmin 310XT from overseas. Does anyone know if the local Garmin agents will honour the warranty?

Anyone had any experience with a similar situation?

I recall reading somewhere that they do cover the warranty but the charge a handling fee. I'm not sure the exact amount but it was on the order of R400 or so.

You can probably contact them through the garmin.co.za site.

Hi Cycle Fan

Dont do it, its R400 for them to just take a look at it. If its broken thats R400 down the drain.

Try the guys from EasyGIS, www.easygis.co.za, not sure what they are offering at the moment on the Forerunner 310XT, see if they can arrange something for you, it will be worth it in the long run.

Rather than paying Vat, customs clearance fees, exchange rate fluctuations etc, shipping charges etc.

I bought a Garmin 310xt from New York.

Paid $400 which is much much cheaper than in SA.

I'm not sure about the warranty.

But I've had mine for 3 months and haven't had

any problems..

The best multisport tool there is in the business.

Unbelievable.. There is nothing I want it to do

which it couldn't do up to now.

Enjoy

Why would it be R400.00 down the tubes.?

If you send it to them theres obviously something wrong, so R400.00 for an inspection isnt bad, especially if they still honour the international warranty (which from my understanding, they do)- worse case you get a new one for 400 bucks.

Thanks guys. EASYGIS have given me a really good price on the 310XT. Not as cheap as the overseas guys but I'm seriously considering it. Would really prefer to buy locally!

You can also try the www.nivo.co.za online store. They normally have very competitive prices, i bought my edge 705 from them last year for R4599.00 which was as good as CRC prices.

Pickeding up on this old thread

Does anyone have recent experience?

Big Birthday coming up, overseas family members, fenix 5s plus birthday gift.

Will I have a warranty right in SA seeing that it’s purchased oversees and not by me.

I am also wondering if it will matter if thet get me the glass version which is not available in SA (because it’s cheaper)

Thanks

So I have a 520 bundle that I got off Amazon last year , took it into Garmin Rosebank yesterday to get looked at (Have an issue with the heart rate strap)

First thing I told them was it came from Amazon , was told its was no issue at all , they cover it fully .!!

And a really great bunch there as well , they went through my unit to make sure it had the latest software , and since then have already had a call from the tech guy trying to resolve the problem .

Kudo,s Garmin !!!!!!

I bought my Fenix 3 off bikehub classifieds. This unit was bought in Zurich and I sent the info to Garmin Rosebank an d they confirmed that it's covered. So I doubt you will have any issues

bought garmin in London while on holiay.when it gave problems here in sa garmin(navworld) sorted it out no issues wrt where it was bought.my guess would therefore be that you will be fine.
