I was buying a Reba Race dual air fork from CRC which now when I place order is unavailable

I need it in black/silver to match frame

Their Reba Teams are in red and white so I am stuck there as well

They have Sid Race dual airs in stock in silver and black I know early sids had narrower stanchions and flexed

These have 32mm same as Reba how does the sid compare to the Reba

This is in 100mm travel and is going on a Santa Cruz Blur XC carbon

would appreciate any input good or bad on going with the sid

Well ok I'm by no means a fork expert, so here goes from my experience :

My bike came with a Fox f32RL, wanted something lighter and blue so got a 08 sid World Cup.

Fox - bit heavier, but setup was more fit and forget, it felt plusher. no remote lockout on mine though.

SID - Lighter, should be as stiff (both 32mm stanchions) Remote lockout with Gate is great. Setup is more difficult. It is a race fork, so to me the ride is fine and prefer it over the Fox, but it is hard I feel. Seems to me, from looking at friends bikes when riding, Reba seems more active than the SID. So small bump complience is not great on the sid, but on big impact it feels great ie, drop offs or water bars like on the 1st Nissan race.

How bout you have the Reba painted here ? I'd only go for the SID if you want a lighter bike or the Reba is great. But I get the colour coding thing haha so won't blame you if you take SID.

Thanks WW good info

As I said only reason I was going with the SID was because I need the silver/black

As you say I dont see why it should have issue's with 32mm stanchions thats all I was really worried about.

I weigh 75kgs so I am not a lightweight but I am sure SID would be up to that

I am currently using a 2009 Recon SL air which I think is great I love this fork so if the SID can just be as good as that I would be quite happy.

I always have *** when I want to order stuff

I have a Reba Race on my one bike and a Sid team on the other (both standard QR). Weight difference is less than 100 grams. Both forks are set at 100mm. I have to tell you they are VERY similar. Set up very similar. Stiffness? On par. The only real difference between the two is that the Reba has the ability to be set up as a 120mm fork. If weight does not bother you, get a Reba. Better value for money. Colour options? That you will have to sort out.

Dangle, because the sid has 2 air chambers to play with and a gate so thus more settings to get right, as far as im aware the fox only has one chamber (f32RL)so once thats set for sag thats it. Ok and rebound offcourse.

It's dead simple to set-up, regardless of the two air chambers, look at the suggested pressures pump it and voila.

The floodgate is only for the lockout mode, allowing more or less oil to flow through the motion control.

Rebound is like any Fox and should be adjusted according to the amount of air.

Quite simple, get a good balance between + and - and the fork will be as plush as anything.

The less - pressure you add, the harder the shock becomes, don't increase the - over the +, the shock will eventually suck down, I learnt this the hard way around six years ago and rode the entire Barberton with my shock sucked down, only after I finished and checked the pressures did I realise where the problem was.

Nice forks the Rox.

We installed a 2011 Fox 29'er last week, man oh man alive, that fork is smooth, but $$$$$$

Hi Crasher I went through exactly the same dilema as you with colours and shock type sid/reba race or team I spoke to my tech buddy and he advised on the reba. then I was in 2 minds about the team or race version. spoke to the guys at the shop and gave them the option to match CWC at 4200 I looked at the CRC option but you should at 17 % vat the LBS matched CWC and I got the pushloc with floodgate added in the deal and delivered the same day what a beauty getting it fitted in the morning. apparently the reba is more rigid and versatile. my 2 cents worth. bottom line squeeze the lbs and colours can always be changed I would also have prefferred the black mine came with extra black and gold decals.
