As for Barney Simon. What a true example of that everybody has to work for the man. Years ago he was the perfect example of independence and standing up for oneself and rebelling against the corporate machine whilst introducing bands at The Station in DBN wearing stove pipe jeans, Doc Maartens drinking Zamaleks out of the old 375ml bottles... Nowadays he is playing easy listening tunes and Nicholas Louw on Jacaranda...

One of the best parties I ever had was a night at The Junction with Barney, Chris Prior and No Friends of Harry, those were the days we partied till sunrise.

Get real people! We're not all supposed to like the same stuff!

The Parlotones is a radio pop band (like was mentioned somewhere above). If you don't like poppy stuff, you wouldn't enjoy their music. It's not rocket science...

Anyway, they are a bunch of very talented guys and Kahn is a very talented writer. You can't argue with that if the genre doesn't appeal.

It's not really my cup of tea but my wife loves it. A lot of our "women friends" listen to Kurt Darren, Nicholis Louw and Eden, so I am MORE THAN HAPPY to settle for Kahn and the boys!!!! Really!!!!

Anyone remember Lithium and Squeal? Man, those were the days!

. What happened to Barney Simon? "they're comin through the doors"

Barney Simon is on Tuks FM every Monday night from 19:00. You can stream from where ever you are.

But his show is heavier than ever before... It's like he's been given carte blanche to play whatever he wants!

I can so relate to that!!! Went out with my wife's cousins in Stellenbosch earlier in the year. I was pshyched to make it a big night, like when we were still students and partied till the next morning easily. I had to beg them to take me home at 3:30.

When I hear Afrikaans music, I just go Oh Dear NOOOOOOOOOO. Can't stand it. Local bands, eVoid, No friends of harry, Araphao (not really my taste) but can go. Don't listen to music on the radio at all anymore. Can't! As for Barney on Tuks, don't receive it. :( But the heavy stuff that he play's I might already have, Killswitch Engage, Battlelore, Bullet for mY valentine etc;. As for keeping up with music news, I'll buy a magazine or check the net.

Pink Floyd 1 000 000 -

there, corrected. Don't think you can compare Pink Floyd, an other similar bands to SA bands(as good as some of them were) , they're just way way way above SA bands.
