Howdie Hubbers :)

I am wanting to get new deraileur cables as well as hydraulic hose...

As for the derauleir cable kit I was thinking of getting the Jagwire in Merida Green (my bike is black, so green cables would look sweet).

Now has anyone used these and are you guys happy with the setup and performance?

Can you suggest any other coloured cable kits?

Was going to get it here as their price is good... http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/cable-kits/jagwire-en/jagwire-ripcord-derailleur-cable-kit-jagwire.html

Anyhoo, as for the new hydraulic hose (I have Avid Elixir brakes) I was going to get a few metres of this stuff in Lime Green to match...

Can anyone tell me if I can just swap out the hose on the brakes or whether I need to get any other parts as well?

Also, similarly...can anyone suggest an alternative coloured hydraulic hose/kit?

Thanks guys, appreciated :)

In terms of brakes - yes, but more than likely you might need to buy some new 'olives' to fit new hose. With some brakes like Hope all parts are reusable, not sure about Avid. You will need to do some research on this: good place to start is the product documentation which if you dont have hardcopy can normally be found on the companies web site.

Hi, sorry for the hijack but has anybody used the jagwire cables? Would they be considered an upgrade to XTR cables performance wise. I see they are a bit more expensive but price doesn't always = quality.

The Merida green would look sweet on a black bike!

Hey bro, no worries :)

My bike came with Jagwire housings and cables, but they in black and I basically just want the green housing for deraileur's and then the hydraulic housing for brakes...

So was just wondering if people have found other alternatives for the ones I mentioned above.

And I have been happy with he Jagwire cables thus far, but I can only compare back to whatever my old Silverback Nabraska had on it (I don't even know what cables it had) tongue.gif

I think the Nebraska does come out with XTR cables. But it's difficult to specifically compare the cables on different bikes due to different setups etc.

I also have a black bike (GT Zaskar Elite 09) and considering the red cables, but more like a ruby red, I think if you change the colour of the cables it might look cool if you change the crankbolts, rotor bolts (if you have 6bolt) and the jockey wheels all to the same colour.

The devil's in the details! :D

Yeah :)

Going green with cables and grips.

Pedals have some red, cassette (new PG990 when I put it on) has red, fork has red and will get some red KCNC jockey wheels.

Think I will change the crank bolts to red/green...depends though cos I don't want my bike looking like a burnt (black) christmas tree (red + green) tongue.gif So gotta be careful laugh.gif

Yeah, def will do, but gotta wait for hydraulic hose, grips and cassette to come from CRC as a buddy of mine was ordering from them and I am tagging along on his shipment :)

But fook me hydraulic hose is like R90/m blink.gif

At least the cassette is only like R450, which is way cheaper than here in country...just hold thumbs for customs charges tongue.gif

Bump bump anyone...?

Just swopped my black brake hoses for jagwire and other than the colour (white) the performance is not much different - if anything they bite a little harder which may go down to the hoses feeling stiffer - but that might just be me...).

If you really want to upgrade performance look to using braided hoses.

Hey man, thanks.

Any idea if these are compatible with Avid Elixir?

Hey man, thanks :)

However, I am told the Avid compatible for Jagwire currently only means the Juicy range and not Elixir :(

It seems the Goodridge hose is compatible, but might be a mission :(
