In case you have'nt heard - The Lion's head coach New Zealander John Mitchell was stabbed with a knive during a robbery at his home.

Dudes, what kind of a message does this send to the rest of the world ?

Our government is not serious about crime prevention and how dare you shoot anybody trying to rob you while they are still outside your house? You need to let them enter first and only then can you let rip and then pray you do not get charged with murder.I am gatvol!

I am in Vereeniging and you must have heard about the 6YO girl who sat by het dad's dead body throughout the night. The cops think the perpetrator could have been the same guy who tried to rob the same house a couple of years ago. He was shot, jailed, Released on bail and thought to have gotten his revenge.

Do I raise my one and two year old girls in a country where personal safety is not a priority to the powers that be. As long as you can host a world cup and look good to foreign investors.

How do you stay postitive and try to make a difference to the situation or do you say F!@#% it and become a part of the brain drain ?

Ya, this story has gone all over the world. What do they overseas people think. Nothing and I doubt that they care. 50+ people get killed everyday, every 3 seconds or something someone is raped... etc etc etc. "Its just another story"...

I think he realised he's coaching the perennial wooden spoon winners of the Super 14, and stabbed himself.

I am not a wuz, but if this happened in a place like Oz or NZ it would be headline news for two weeks !

"All six of them are fuming right now."

So that's six suspects right there.

But then again the "rest of the world" is a pretty sad place in its own way?

And making it headline news doesn't solve anything. It only sells newspapers.

Our swimmers perform well at Commonwealth Games & some Auz makes an issue about some random comment from Roland. How important is the overseas press opinion of us anyhow?

Packing up & moving out to the land of the boring is not all it is cut out to be. Boring to be reading about poverty & problems elsewhere and realise that you are unable to contribute. (other than to send you cheque to some random relief agency...)

This is Afrika, you were born here for a good reason. You are making a positive difference, celebrate that. We have so many opportunties to help a kid, smile at a down & outer, fix a commuter's bike, see the sun rise, cycle across a mountain pass, etc.

(And yes, I too have two daughters, so I understand...)
