Creatine ... Good or bad?

the internet says creating isnt bad for you... but states you need to drink alot of extra water when taking creatine.

alot of people says that creatine puts strain on ur kidneys...

thus i am not 100% certain what is right and what is wrong.

 

can creatine make your immune system weaker?

does it tax your immune system, can it be an alergen? iow can your body be alergic to creatine supplimentation.

(the body prouduces natural creatine --> thus im not sure about the details).

 

how do you guys feel about the topic?

I can't comment from a scientfic point of view but i had a reaction when i tried it. Got acne on my shoulders and upper back.

May have just been me but it did clear up when i stoppen the creatine.

Regardless of it's benefits in other sports or it's side effects, creatine isn't really desirable for most cycling. It benefits explosive power (something you'd only need in a sprint) at the cost of increased 'dead' mass and water retention which reduces your power to weight (you still need to drag all the extra mass to the finish before you can actually get into a sprint).

My opinion is that if you are riding enough, gyming correctly and eating nutrionally then you shouldn't need a supplement like creatine. You will build muscle naturally. Purely my opinion though, not scientific fact.

ive also heard of friend from the gymming scene with backne and skin issues when they used creatine.

Creatine is not worth it because it makes you heavy (not good for cycling)...

I used it twice in 15years ago while doing canoeing and I noticed that it makes me aggressive and stronger.

It does help to recover quickly, but it makes me bulker and heavy...

kinda the same thing Jerome Swart told me when I under him @ sport science institute.

 

We need to keep in mind that certain supplements are needed as there is simply no way your body can get all its recommended nutrients through eating food only.

 

creatine is not one of them :thumbdown:

i feel the same way... however we are impatient creatures ;)

and try to speed up the gains.

I always though it was because the gym gorillas rubbed each others muscles in the steam baths :eek:

I think it's fine in small amounts to help with endurance - eg. in FiT Dura Train. If you are taking enough to get dehydrated, personally I think that is too much to benefit you as a cyclist. You're likely to build muscle you don't need or want. Just my theory. I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.

Anyone here use NOXPLODE? Just curios. I've been using it as a preride drink and it give a rather strong boost, but not sure about the creatine effects, I dont drink it more than twice a week. I've never used creatine extensively for that matter but i've never had any side effects other than possibly a little skin issues.

Yes, also have a few friends complaining about ackne etc from creatine......found out they were taking "roids" as well, go figure... :thumbup:

 

I have been taking creatine for 1 years now, and no problem with ackne etc. :rolleyes:

So what would be a good supplement for gym & cycling training? Or not worth it? :unsure:

Go "cave man" with your diet, there shouldnt be a need for additional supplements.
