For once I thought, yes, a useful medal.!

One which at least doubles as a bottle opener.!

Unfortunately I was wrong. :(

But perhaps something for medal manufacturers to consider.?

I'd sooner have a medal which proves handy at braais than 100's in a shoe box somewhere at the back of the cupboard.

I've also wondered what to do with all these medals. Maybe when we're too old to ride we can dress up for armistice day or something. The bottle opener is a nice idea too.

Havent you seen the threads after the races where guys are crying about not getting a medal, maybe ask them, what they do with it?

Mine wouldn't open a bottle.! :o

 You are right, it doesnt! Its to small! - FAIL

MAybe that's why they only had beers afterwards ;)

I assume in cans or twist top bottles.!

Cause this medal certainly wouldn't have helped with anything else.

Well Good for me that I dont drink.

The medal was a bit poor and expected something better, after ALL it was an achievement to have completed the TONNER.

Without these medals there would probably be more budget for eye candy at the water points.

Not really on topic, but I punctured a tubbie at this event and was out after 50k's with nothing to do but hang around the start / finish for 3 hours. The PPA guys at the waterpoint were pretty cool - very friendly, helpful, handing out free bar ones, bananas, coke etc to all and sundry and cheering the bunches on as they came through.

PPA gets a lot of stick on here, but I couldn't fault them at this event.

I was thinking the same, Luke. This event was really well organized, one or two water point issues - but in general everything seemed to run smoothly - I even had a guy pumping my wheel up at a water point while someone else filled my empty bottle with water...

and the pool at the end of a hot ride, was rather refreshing

DMC, you don't have to "drink" to be the cool oke who can open bottles with his One Tonner medal.

Besides, it would have worked just as well on the old 200ml Cokes or a Bashews.!
