I think they will be beaten by the Standard bank tandem - Thompson/Kilpatrick.

I think these tandems will be capable of riding sub 2H15 - weather permiting!

Those standard bank boys just got 3 medals at worlds, they are strong!!!!

Chippy - Kilpatrick has an eye-condition, beleive me there is nothing wrong with that boys ability in terms of riding! Wink

This is going to be a tuff one to call.Confused

Yikes I don't know!!!! Think I'm going to stay on the fence on this oneOuch Will see what happens at campus to campus this weekend as well, before I make a decision on who will win at shova.

Also heard that Ian Martin and his partner (sorry don't know the guy's name) are also going to be racing, they are also strong! They are in fact Std Bnk's no1 tandem, so I think the two tandems will work well together.

But I agree with SP - it's going to be a close call, but personally I would like to see Thompson/Kilpatrick take it.

I don't think any other tandems will stay with Hunter and McLean till the finish. The level of cycling pedigree runs deep in those two and they can both climb and time trial well. At Genting Highlands, a 25km 1800m ascent climb at the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia, McLean has finished 3rd (1998) and Hunter 6th (2003 I think) against some super-talented international climbers.

Ian and Chris (Standard Bank) are probably the only guys that will stay with them. For how long remains to be seen... 2:15? I reckon if there isn't much wind they can do it.

There is no doubt that both Hunter and McLean will be tough to beat. Thomson and Kilpatrick have been cleaning up here lately and at Jock the were climbing Boulders with elite men. I think it will be great to have three tandems racing competively together.
