and boy did I ride Slowbee - told my hubby that I never ever want to be in the saddle for 7 hours ever, ever again.  Next year I plan to be at goal weight - so will be aiming for less time in the saddle.   But will be taking the same approach - doing it because I enjoy it.

Congrats on finishing!  I tell you, I started cycling last year and have lost 13Kg's since then (started cycling about 2 months before the Burger). I ride because I enjoy it and love it when I see the results. I feel I have a bit more to lose but will work on it gradually. Who knows, maybe in the not too distant future you might be brave enough to do the Double Century  (I am doing that this weekend)

On topic: I had the same issue at the Durbanville race earlier this year with an E group rider weaving all over the place (not mentioning that he had been dropped by his group because I left in the J bunch). I had to tell him on multiple occasions to hold his line because he was all over the place.

When we were still actively cycling on our tandem in SA we were always in the first groups to start. We were never fast and the groups used to pass us as the race went on. Those that scared me the most were the "Jack Russels".... the U/16's. The worst were the ladies..... bitching cussing and moaning. The rest were OK but the V's and VB's had the worst manners. Screaming and shouting .... and sometimes obscnities as were kept our line.... maybe slowly but kept our line. They showed no respect even with EM present on the back of the Tandem. That was embarressing to say the least..... not all but it regularly happened. I even remember some Hubbers doing that on a Hyper to Hyper.

The worst of all were the lower bunches. During a Carousel Race. We were on our way to do a sub 3 and pushing quite hard for two old people. We heard this group behind us. A lady said "Ah a Tandem, lets get behind them" Quite soon they were on our tail.... a bunch of maybe 20 cyclists mostly women. After about five minutes I moved over and asked one of the kugels to lead and the bitch said "f*ck you we will stay right behind you and let you do the work". I moved right over to the right hand gutter and still the whole bunch followed.

I went back to the left hand side and as soon as it was safe slammed on the brakes. Kugels left and right of us ..... some on the gravel shoulder and one ending up on her backside in the grass....slow fall not hurt but full of dust and ego bust. En toe vloek die klomp vloekwoorde wat ek in die Army laas gehoor het!!!!!! We just fell back and stayed 50m or so behind them and as we got into the finishing straight sprinted past them laughing all the way!!!!!!!

Yup AndyR the dude with the ponytail was a bit of a hazard. Strange he's been around for a long time in A bunch and I have never seen him ride like that. Coming down homestead he tried to sneak past on the left and almost took out a bunch of people. He was swerving around a fair deal but then we probably all have our dodgy days. Goes with the territory when riding with 16000 people.

Yeah, Just before the N14 on ramp he tried to sneak through on the right and where we turned left-right he almost took me out.

I have seen him a few times but not too often.

But we probably do all have our off days.

I saw at least 3 bikes kitted with Tri bars,

Thought it was not allowed.

Not in licensed groups, open and seeded they don't realy care. I'd just tell the guy politely to ride on his own. Thats what you should be doing on a TT bike... ride on your own!!!

Calling a woman a "bitch" is uncool.

No matter how upset you are. No matter how weavy her racing line is.

Women are precious. People are precious. No one is perfect.

I agree but fortunately nobody can read your thoughts!!!!!!!!!!.......and, sometimes if she degrades herself to that level she needs to be reminded kindly...... And if she continues she needs to be reminded harshly.

Ah yes - ye olde switcheroo - truly the lowest form of cycling available.

How exactly is making someone crash taking revenge for them sitting your wheel or swearing at you?

It's a douchebag move perfected by cowards - nicely done oom. I hope your fork falls off loose on a steep downhill. Tosser.

You were not there and you have no right at all to critizise my actions. I am a responsible cyclist and will only do such things if the situation warrants it. Maybe I was not explicit enough in my description for your overly macho and estosterone ridden taste you b*b**n!!!! ..... no for your type the word may not be politically correct because you will now start calling me a racist and bigot..... let me call you a buffoon!!!!!!!
