Interesting thread.

I was also thinking about a TT bike, decided against it for the time being as Im getting married, moving etc so cash flows are destined outwards.

From what Ive heard, the benefit is minimal on 70.3 for a TT bike. However bear in mind that Im sure you'd be doing other events where a TT bike will definately be beneficial.

What TT bike you looking at?

I assume you own both otherwise this is a pointless Question.

if so what does the Tri bike weigh vs the road bike?

I would say TT if you have done many miles of training in it already.

Funnily enough, I spoke to MArk at Troi sport and he said that weight can virtually be ignored in a TT bike. Comfort and optimal riding position is everything.

If you have a TT bike - then go TT

If you dint have a TT bike but have a nice trust fund - get a TT

On half ironman you can always just trow on some TT bars to your road bike.

Unless you want to win it, the aero does not make that much of a diff - lets say for argument sake 7min - 10min

A TT bike is very limited in its use - with a road bike you can always add TT bars. Remember - its about a 3 hour ride only.

For IM - go TT - the comfort is very important over 6 - 7 hours

TT bars - R 800.00 - TT bike R 30 000.00

If cash aint the issue go TT

For 1/2 IM I dont see the capital input justifying the time benifit but then again, I dont have a trust fund.
