Help - am lusting over a trail bike

what to do? I know they're a mission up hills (no matter what the suspension design is) and they're heavy (anything over 12kg is HEAVY) but I keep thinking about getting something with 5+ inches of travel.......

 

please help me get my mind off a new bike......please.

Ive got no problem climbing hills on my Trance, and Ive got it down to below 12kg

Agree with Cearus, Giant Trance X is a super all rounder. X0 and X1 light enough to climb well, even without lock out. Not meant to stand up out of the saddle and kick it like a hardtail, but on rough singletrack will often outclimb the skittish race bikes. Downhill, it will decimate them and do jumps and drops that will scare most guys. Tough as nails and low maintenance for a full susser. There are others also, but not many will beat it in the value for money stakes. Their 2nd hand value also holds very well. Biggest plus is the huge grin factor.

I see hope are making 9-36 cassettes - will be great for "1X" set ups.

A Trance is what got me hooked on the Giant brand... she was matt black and red... what a machine!!
