Sorry Andy I like you but what is wrong with a phone call ?

If my lbs. wasn't around anymore I would use Dunkeld.

At that time a phone call was not possible.

Besides, I like having things in black and white so that I can compare my options better. The info tends to be more complete and there is less room for disputes later one. It also shows that bit more about a particular shop/establishment etc if they take the trouble to respond to emails.

Pro Cycles is in 5th Avenue (heading east along Northrand) Northmead Benoni, the mech there used to wrench for Barloworld and Tumbleweed works weekend there.

Whats wrong with email?

If they arent willing to respond to emails then they shouldnt display their email address...

Exactly! And if they willing to respond to emails then their service level appears that bit higher.

I guess they should then employ and additional person on the payroll to accommodate people who prefer this way of business.

Ok, this rant has me on either side of the fence. It gripes me when anyone delivers bad service, but I use Dunkeld and have never had an issue with them. I bought a second hand Commencal Meta 5.5 MTB that needed some TLC and after I got it back (with a 2 new chain rings, a chain, cassette, BB and a full service including shock and fork - at R2200) it felt like new and has been a dream since then (July). Ok given I look after my bike really well and clean it after every ride.

Even when my shifting was a bit out, I rode in and they sorted it right then and there at NO cost. I understand that you have given them a second chance to redeem the error, but I honesty feel that if you take the bike in and have a chat with either Mark, Merlyn or Aidan they will sort it out for you. I don't think it's fair for one bad experience to be used to discredit any store or business. No Co can deliver top class ALL the time and in hearing most of the replies, most people have had great service from Dunkeld

My issue with your rant, andyr249, is that you expect a bunch of guys who run a LBS to be online all the time and get back to you in your timing of urgency. If you are wanting information and wanting it NOW, then pick up the phone. I have been in Dunkeld a LOT and they ALWAYS answer the phone when it rings... Just saying. They aren't an online help desk waiting to respond to every email that comes in. The fact is, it's less work for you to pop off an email than dial their number (which is 011 - 341 0627 by the way) and have to actually SPEAK to someone...

Thanks, but that's seriously FAR EAST RAND.

How can you use the words "Tumbleweed" and "work/s" in the same sentence ?

Just had a call from Mark at Dunkeld Cycles, seems someone showed them the thread, Mark seems really keen to make this right. Seems they have gone a long way to make this right and keep a customer. Good on you guys

Guess I will be changing the thread name to Definitely using Dunkeld Cycles again.

Big up to Mark for wanting to get involved and sort the problem out.

How know's maybe I'll give Dunkheld Cycles a go the next time my baby needs a service.

Or just get a Blackberry! I am sorry but there is no excuse for not replying to emails within a few hours these days. I also like to have everything down on paper and then no-one has cause to argue.

How is your desk job ?

Not too bad Dangle thanks! In between doing my 'desk job' I do plenty other 'non desk job' items on the farm too such as awesome lawn mowing and car fixing and woodworking but I do check my emails every hour or so when not in front of my desk and always have my phone with me! I am the only employee in my company! As I say, there is no excuse for not being on the ball!
