Running with puppy is still at the top of the list i reckon...

I'm too old to have more kids, so I'm pretty much doing the puppy* thing too.

Speaking as a dad, I can confirm that being accompanied by a tiny person is indeed a babe magnet. (It doesn't work if the mother of the child is in close attendance for obvious reasons.)

You see, it sends all the right signals to ladypersons' genetically programmed nesting instincts:

1. You are virile. See this gorgeous child which I have fathered!

2. You are not comitment-phobic. See how I care for this child!

3. You have a tender side. See how gently I treat this child!

4. You are able to provide. See how well dressed and healthy this child is!

5. And this is a biggy in Cape Town...you are straight. See this child and know that I fathered this child through carnal knowledge of a woman...I like ladygardens!

I, like, er, still have it in me, so to speak…but I'm done with having young kids. Luckily, my youngest still has those dimples cheeks which have winning ways with the ladies and gets me an in in social situations. :)

I suspect you have much to learn about how this stuff acshly works. Nothing signals your desirability as clearly as the fact that another person finds you desirable.

I have in turn taken both our little dude and our little dog to the Stellenbosch Slow Food Market which I am sure anyone who has been there will agree is a total babe haven.

In my experience the kid gets all the grannies googoo and gaga which is probably the last thing you need when kicking back with a slow brewed bottle of Darling ale, the puppy on the other hand is a fantastic catalyst for an impromptu cleavage festival.

Dog gets my vote, hands down.

I will be a father soon, and would love to take my son with me with me on the bicycle. I know the Asians take the whole family on their bikes from an early age, but I am worried about accidental falls etc.

Anybody know a source for bicycle baby seats and which ones are recommended? When is a child old enough to be on the bike safely?

I have a tandem as well, would be great if there was some way all three of us (Mom,dad, baby) could get out together. :D

Oh, how amusing mrs Bikemonster must find this! Where did I put her number...

Anyway, I'm with Tumbleweed on this, puppies are king. Cheap, draws them in like flies and their poop can be conveniently scooped from the ground rather than having to be scraped from their bottoms. There is a reason why people feel "too old" for kids - it's called experience.
