There are MANY positive arguments for the minimilist shoe.

I have had my fivefingers for nearly 3 years now and they are still going strong.

I do not run in them mind. This is because my right foot over-pronates and it looks like I am trying to do the twist when running (my ankle practically touches the ground). Therefore the Inov8 shoes are better for me because they offer more support.

Also remember that you cannot put on a pair of fivefingers or inov8 and crack a 4 minute mile. You need to 'wear your feet in' so to speak. We have been wearing soft, spongy shoes all our life.

Drifters in Cape Quarter and Sandton City stock both brands.

Maybe I need to look at a pair. Nerves in my feet are destroyed from all the chemo. My feet at the best of times feel like after a days marching in army boots or skiing in boots a size too small. :(

The only shoes I can walk a few hundred metres in without an incredible ache are my Asics.

If these work for me, they'll work on anyone. Oh, and foot strike is interesting when you dont feel your feet.

Do they perhaps make a safety version for site?

Is that a Vibram shoe? If so why are they now marketing a shoe??

I tend to agree with the barefoot or vibram theory and a few years ago made the decison to walk barefoot as much as possible (mostly at home).

Ooh sorri I dirrent see the small NB logo, kind of got blinded by the vibram orange ones.

Makes sense for rocky terrain

New Balance and Vibram hmm is that a coalition?

Some of my most comfortable running shoes used to be NB.

The book is called Born to Run, very inspirational.

Ricky, don't buy the ones in your picture, they are now an old model and there are better even funnier looking ones available.

These would suit you better.

Hmmmmm. All this "new science" makes me think that these are like Bio-Pace for people who do not balance well enough to ride bikes.

(For clarity - that's a dig at the marketers, not any Hubbers who happen to have lost all sense of style bought a pair of these fine shoes.)

No not like Biopace at all, these are here to stay, the style of running they promote was in existence before we were even thought about.
