Everybody moaning and groaning about the Dogma pricing - SA is the only country in the world where Dogma is more expensive than other competitors.

In the UK SRP's are :

Dogma - £3500

Specialized SL3 - £2000

Colnago C59 - £3300

Time RXR - £3300

Trek Madone 6.9 - £3250

Cervelo R3sl - £3000

Wilier Triestina Cento Uno SL - £4000

Look 695 - £3600 (includes stem and Look crank)

Personally I think the margins of the Pinarello and Wilier distributor(s)are out of line with the others and it is common knowledge that one can get about 10-15% off on a Dogma frameset. (I have made my enquiries)

With the post above I wanted to say that Dogma with R50k price tag vs upper R30k's for competitors distorts the view people have of the Dogma. It is NOT much more expensive than other bikes it competes with...

Only in SA

But with Shimano? Is that even legal?

Shimano is fine as long as you zazz it up a bit to match the rest of the package.

Ok.. I admit I am a little jealous. Just one of these puppies would raise me enough cash to buy at least two genuinely hot bikes.

I think you're right there. If I was going to buy one of these things I'd take a holiday to Italy, pack my current bike in a nice bike bag on the way out and hock it upon arrival before picking up the new bike. You could have a lovely holiday in Europe, buy your Dogma or whatever, give it a punt up some alps, bring it back in in the same bag and still have change from what you would have paid in SA.

Now this is terrible quality control. I would not even pay 10k for something like this.

Tjop! ... that is for cable routing and will be removed when the cable is installed!

If you look very closely you will see I did not circle the tube but the hole. Why is it white when the rest of the frame is red?

Ok to be fair, you cant see it clearly in that photo (originals too big to load)

but there is a piece of cardboard underneath the plastic tube to protect the frame from being scratched, that is what you are seeing.

  • 2 weeks later...

Team Sky has been riding with it already

Pinarello will be the first company in the world to fit the DOGMA with new Campagnola electronic. We just received some more info on that - new Spanish pro team 'MOVISTAR' will be first to use it - we have just ordered the first replica frames for delivery March / April...we'll post more info soon for those that are interested.
