Chubba Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 There are so many lekka bikes to buy in the classifieds, why buy a silverback.....when you can get a Morewood Zula, Specialized Stumpjumper, Ibis Mojo or Santacruz Blur - all better bikes in my opinion. The big thing for me is once you have a good frame you can upgrade components as and when you are able too.

Similarly spec'd to the Silverback (lighter and better frame) and you might be able to pick one up for around R19,000 if you shop around. Much better buy than the Mercury

Did 2 Sabie experiences 1 Cape Epic 1 Mankele 3 towers and myriad other races - 8000km+ total. Good stuff that! The suspension parts squeak a bit, but most bikes do. The geometry is nice - I set it racy low handles - still confident over rough terrain. My buying decision at the time was the spec / buck ratio - the Mercury was top then. step777 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I think the new Mercury 1 is the best spect in it's class.It has a complete XT 30 speed groupo and weight +- 12.5 kg.
