Jip, I really enjoyed it. The first part of the run was hectic climbing but it was worth going downhill at the end. I think the beginners were very happy with the M.T.B. route as it wasn’t to technical. The swim was hell as always. I’m just a bit disappointed in my time. I hoped to have done a bit beter but playing in the mud is always fun.

What times did you peeps do?

I did it in just under 2 hrs which is what I was aiming for so was happy :P

Hoping to be a bit quicker on the run next time... and hopefully the next one I do the mtb is dry so it can be faster too!!

All in all a great event though

Nice, well done, guys. I would have loved to do this one as training for Xterra, which will be my first tri at the end of the month, but I had already entered the Dischem half marathon yesterday.

Not sure yet whether to de Xterra lite or full

Me too. I dont mind the mtb'ing and the running, but the swim is something else. I swam 17min on 600m so just to think about 1500m gives me the chill's. That is 2.5 times the distance done yesterday!

I know; the swim is the issue! I didn't feel shattered after yesterday's 600m but I'm not sure I could have swum it twice plus some extra!

Trouble is that I want to wear the Xterra t-shirt with PRIDE; doing the Xterra Lite then claiming the t-shirt just doesn't feel right to me!!

Also concerned for how technical the mtb will be as if its wet again AND really technical then it will be a very frustrating ride!!

Hi there Guys

From my personal experience the trick to jumping into the longer swim distances is to just stay calm. I find that what helps me is that I end up telling myself "Don't worry if guys are passing you swim your own race you will catch them on the run :" )

If you dont do the long one you may find your self regretting it.

Even if you run out of steam towards the end of the event at least you have set a goal for next year

Best of luck guys you can do it I will be at Buffelspoort to cheer you on.

Makes sense! Rather finish feeling SHATTERED but knowing that I did Xterra!

Ok now to convince my brother that we should upgrade from the lite to the full...

Think I'll go swim this ave just to convince myself that I'll be fine :o

Thanks for the advice

You guys are revving me up. Think I better hit the pool at least three times this week!

@T.XTERRA - is it safe to assume that the swim will be wetsuit legal? I believe it was last year.

Sunday was by FAR the most fun I have ever had on a mountain bike. The mud was awesome. Guys, those who cant swim here is the thing.... swim slower. It is all about breathing. If you swim slower you actually swim faster. Also... go for lessons. I went for a few and it helped a lot.

Spot on. I went for another pool session this morning and its getting much better, largely due to taking it easy, relaxing and timing my breathing; rather than trying to thrash out the laps as quickly as possible.

Xterra full entered!

Hope I don't regret this...

Woohoo, well done !!

See you on the start line (if I make it back from 70.3 in one piece)
