So in the past few weeks I've been looking around to buy a new bike or frame.

What is wrong with people, that they omit such basics as the size of the frame.

or its year

or even a picture.

Damn People, cant you provide the basics, or dont you really want to sell?

Matt, cant you put a sticky note in the Classifieds?

Thanks

My point Exactly!!!!!

These guys are omitting vital info such as sizes.

How hard can it be to include the sizing etc?

thing is: what daniel's saying is quite true, as more info helps making searching for something a lot easier than just clicking Next Page hoping to find what u looking for. If most of us would just jump backward in time, they'd land square in the middle of the information age.

But i've asked Admin on numerous occassions to post up a template listing minimum information for a sale or wanted ad. It will standardise the presentation it's a simple copy and paste for the seller or buyer to populate, than to dream up their own categories. The template can be included area between the first post and the top line menus, as Admin has previously done to highlight important forum messages.

And not stand the chance to be flamed.... what would be the point. DONT FORGET THE COUCH.

Here is a pic of my girlfriends ex girlfriends bike ready to post in the classifieds. I'll see if she is still ex in a few days time before I post it. Take note the couch

The classifieds seem to be working just fine.

Over regulation is unnecessary.

The bottom line is that a poorly prepared seller wont succeed in selling.

I'm going out on a limb here and will say that I dont see many good ads.

By that I mean that I dont see many inspiring ads.

If people want to sell they should make an effort.

So rather lead by example, than put energy into this thread.

Flame bad ads. The next ad these people post will be better.

Equally: make every effort to praise those who post great and detailed ads. !!

They should incorperate couch recognition scanning software into the photo upload. If there is no couch then the ad won't post

I agree with the sentiment that the buyer/seller dynamic - and the "flaming" dynamic of the Hub, should dictate the manner of the classifieds section...

It actually serves to tell you a bit about the seller - in the absence of a "rate-the-transaction" tool as one finds on Ebay.

A person who pops up the perfect "For sale" post, tells me that a.) they've probably sold on The Hub before; b.) they know a thing or two about The Hub; c.) they're not necessarily technologically challenged, and so will presumably be quick to respond to emails/PM's etc; and d.) are covering all the bases in advance, to contribute to a quick and easy sale - which will probably mean it will be a quick and easy sale!...

One more thing though - don't forget about a rather more simple point...

If you purposefully leave out a few crucial 'facts' when you pop up the post - you quickly have 3 or 4 free "BUMPS" from fellow Hubbers, flaming you for 'neglecting' to put up a few crucial facts...

I've come across a few 'for sales' where I wondered whether or not the above was done on purpose...

Or maybe I'm just cynical!

Or too generous in my assessment of their sales-savvy! :)
