Out of principle I will not buy anything connected to or endorsed by the whiner Greg Lemond

He will be devestated.

Can I offer you a Lance Armstrong-endorsed PowerBand, Sir?

Don't you read the Hub...... Members have an unnatural fascination with Powerband and they have proven over and over they do not work...... Sir

It is such a simple idea that I can't see why it has not been done a while back. Now if they can make is sway a bit so that you can get out of the saddle a bit.

It seems interesting, but am I correct to assume that it can only simulate flat road? ie to generate more resistance you have to make the blades go faster? Maybe they will add some sort of artificial resistance (as an option) with version 2 to broaden its appeal?

Some other company did it about 20 years ago (though not with the fancy electronics).

This is correct. It's pretty much like any other fluid trainer. To simulate riding up a hill, you just ride in a harder gear. Ultimately, all you are doing on any trainer (unless you have something that actually tilts your bike) is riding at a specific power at a specific cadence. Whether you get that combination by playing with a resistance or by playing with gear combinations, it's really the same thing.

Edit: I'm quite intrigued by the idea of this trainer. The reviews I've read say it has a very different feel to other trainers and is much more road-like. As a downside, they all mention that it sounds as loud as a 747 at take-off.

Does anyone know if they're available locally and at what price?

Its a IDT on which your bike fits, so why would you have to set it up to resemble your bike setup?

I read a review that said it was pretty good but rather noisy.
