I hope you filled up yesterday! Petrol price went up today... :P

That's the reason I was still driving around at that time; should've seen the filling stations. That and the fact that I have an expecting mother at home with all sorts of cravings....

I live in Saudi. In summer (July) we start our rides at 5 am - 34 Celsius. By 8 am it is around 42 Celsius with really high humidity. No way to ride at midday, close to 50 Celsius. Your body gets use to it, but you do have to drink a lot and not just water - something to replace the electrolytes. Below a typical July in Saudi and then just for interest how the humidity affects the apparent temperature.

I can also tell you that car temperature gauges are not very accurate...

not ridden in, but paddled a few Dusi marathons where in the valley its topped 40, air so thick you had to chew it a few times before inhaling!

Big H, whats the climate like in Nig? i imagen it to be super hot?

We have two seasons.....wet season and dry season. It is now winter. Temp in the car yesterday 39*C. We live here from home to car to office. Change of climate when we go to RSA normally a problem as it makes you sick almost immediately when you arrive.

We do not have our Tandem here but train on our spinners in the apartment. We have aircon and a large fan and temp is mostly in the region of 25*C

Shade temp or????

Yes, shade temp, that's the only way to measure temperature. If you measure sunlight temp, then the heat absorption properties of the thermometer plays a big role and can be well over boiling point (hence solar geyers)

I think many of these so called "measured temperatures" are done with hopelessly poor thermometers with hopelessly uncontrolled measurement protocols. Not many places in SA measure more than 40 on a regular basis! I did practically grow up in the magalliesberg, and we rarely had days topping 36. that's not too far from harties / van gaalens.

Car thermometers are also pretty useless!

We had a group on Table Mountain yesterday from 10:00am to 13:00. Suffer fest in that heat. The stats read average temp 41 degrees, minimum 31 and max 47 degrees in the sun. Was not so pleasant!
