Attention: Mr LAWRENCE WHITTAKER

(PRESIDENT)

CYCLING SOUTH AFRICA

Dear Lawrence,

It is with regret that we find it necessary to request CSA urgently to convene an extraordinary meeting between CSA and the heads of all the Provincial bodies.

The purposes of the meeting would be to discuss the lack of transparency by the CSA board in the management of our sport, particularly in the decisions taken by the board and reasons for these decisions and to discuss how this can be resolved.

As the elected representatives of cycling in our provinces and as affiliates of CSA we, the

Undersigned, are continually questioned by our members and our partners in the sport (sponsors,

Race organizers, etc.) regarding the reasons behind various CSA decisions that affect us and our

partners in the sport and are found lacking in our ability to respond.

We are sure that you understand that this does not reflect well on the sport and is extremely disconcerting to us.

It is also of grave concern to us when we are questioned on the lack of transparency by the CSA

board on their (or some board members') commercial involvement in the sport and how this may

conflict with their responsibilities as board members.

This in turn leads to questions regarding the motives behind certain decisions.

Furthermore, we are sometimes questioned on why the Provincial bodies are not party to

decisions that in some instances affect the sport across the country, whereas people who have

no representation within CSA or at provincial level are called upon for input.

For these reasons we request that the abovementioned meeting urgently be convened so that our

concerns can be discussed and dealt with in the best interests of cycling in the country.

In the best interests of our sport the concerned provinces.

Why do I get the feeling that Mr Whittacker is having a lekker giggle in his office.  Pops, dis net so goed jy try vir Telkom s? dat hulle hul dienslewering moet verbeter.  Die ouens kap 'n dowe en gee nie 'n druppel om nie.  Net solank ons arme PATETE betaal vir hul om lekker rond te rits.

Soos my ma altyd s?, "Jy poep teen donderweer!"

Pops, ek hoop net die manne skrik BETYDS wakker.  Soos dit nou gaan is daar geen kans nie.  In die proses word ONS geld lekker opgemors deur die "powers that be".

Please can all these cycling provinces present their workable plans to achieve excellence and transformation in this sport to a public forum or available on the CSA website so it can be viewed and commented on the feasability thereof. I agree transparency should be at the order of the day, but when you go to take on the board or any outside people trying to assist, please then already have a better plan and solution in place.

As in normal country governance, the step form Dictatorship to Democroay hold immense challenges for the first years with Old Gaurd types slashing all newbies, new different angled Dictatorships trying to take advantage of the confusion, commercial exploitation of the new, yet unstable setup, etc( eg USSR to Russia) We are walking right into the same trap...human nature...

Austin. I think CSA needs to have a "bosberaad" ASAP, and [EDIT] AND invite the people on the ground AS WELL. It must not for [EDIT] ONLY those in the CSA Management or province chairmans, but [EDIT] ALSO more knowledge-able people.

People from the provinces who are in charge of development, pro team managers, bmx development people, the colonels, Breeze's , mccleans, ruiters, cherry, erica etc of this world.

The management shuffle/nomonations/onder die gat skop/ etc can come later, but jnr worlds is in a couple of months, and we need to act asap.

And of course the plan on how to budget these millions thats CURRENTLY flowing to CSA.popeye2007-10-24 06:43:56

This is at the crossroad where we stand: The choice between democracy and anarchy. Some parts of these threads lead towards anarchy because I see plenty of questions, plenty of slandering, but no answers. When you have the people at heart, the people being the cyclists in this case, and you justify all your actions as to benefit them first, then the choices you make in these times will turn towards democracy. Unforunately were are not at the moment.

Succesfull leaders who want to take over or take charge or better situations do not just slate, they say: "Here is my solution, is yours more credible than mine or better than mine, I challenge you..." If you cannot say that, the keep quite. On the other side if you cannot answer or better the challengers question or agree with him and get it done, then get out..

I agree to an extent Popeye. Bosberaad is fine, but I have seen many of these, attended some and been disappointed by most. We have to get someone to take control of it from the results end.  Then cut short any discussion not leading towards the desired result. nad have an immediate outcome with deadlines at that same meeting.

I was told by the road commision not to pressure now becasue they working towards 2016( I was pressuring on Nations Cup for Jnr and U23). The thing is: Who will be riding in 2016 Olympics?

Answer: No-one woth sending if we do not get hem into the nations Cups of 2008.

It will all end in just discussions. I was at a 5 hour meeting and nothing came form that. we have not progressed one inch...

It's useless to hold a bosberaad without the CSA management or provincial chairmen. If they're not knowledgeable then everyone is to blame for electing them.

What should happen is that everything that is undocumented, like transformation, selection policy, who's responsible for what, should be documented and put on the CSA site.  Getting rid of certain elements within the CSA may be necessary, but getting rid of them now might not be the smartest thing either, because of the inevitable delays it will cause in new people getting to know their jobs.

The IT systems being put in place now should expose who's doing their jobs and who's not.  Then, during the next election, get the pitchforks out and chase out the people who needs to be chased out.

"bosberaad without the CSA management or provincial chairmen"

I mean not only them but invite the others.

They all have to be there to here the issues and plan the actions... together

"Then, during the next election, get the pitchforks out and chase out the people who needs to be chased out"

Its much harder to do than just vote them out. They are fighting to keep their jobs, so its not going to be easy.

BUT, At least now the Provincial Managers and powers knows that the members is not happy and they must FORCE CSA to get to the meeting as what was requested.

Lock the door and do not allow them to walk out again with a crap Rugby excuse.

Its time to answer some questions.
