SA Champs Start Groups

They putting all age groups in one bunch up to 200 riders. Thats plain stupid. How will riders know who they are riding against?

SA Champs is supposed to be the Pinnacle of SA cycling and it is now been turned into a real Circus

its the surprize SA Champs.... they don't tell you anything so it can be a surprize when you get there...

Medals will be awarded per 5 year age category as per UCI if they have at least 12 starters

All Veteran age groups riding the same distance will start together unless a specific 5 year group has more than 100 entrants

or the total entrants for that distance exceeds 200.

Pleas allow an hour later or earlier for the start times as final entrants have not been established yet and NMPB still deciding

on exact timing.

CSA claim they want to improve SA's international cycling but all they are doing is screwing up the Vets racing!

 

I hear there is a road congress in PE the night before SA Champs. I recon all the riders should show up there and protest!

 

Maybe we should start a UNION for racing cyclists.... MMMMMMmmmmm

When i was in PE in December i heard it includes Brickmakers Kloof and Military Rd in Central.

 

These would be ridden a few times.

I see the following causing some confusion with officials:

"Right guys, theres less than 100 of you, lets join groups".

"Um, oh crap, theres 220 of you now, lets split up again."

"Oh dear, we're back to 90, lets quickly join up again"

"Ag nee man, you okes are messing with me........."

Ja, PE's name is going to be dragged through the mud once again because of a *** SA's and its actually CSA who are the culprits

From CSAs perspective, there are advantages:

Less logistical hassle. Sometimes there are only 20 to 30 starters per vet age cat, with 1 or 2 teams controlling the race. Vets racing will be harder now, the tactics and standards will improve.

 

Less time&effort spent on vets, who seem to fall outside their focus area. It looks as if they see vets as a resource to improve our Elite racing. Is that so bad?

I like your way of thinking. Very true.

But why put up a jersey (and assuming a SA jersey still means something) and then screw them in racing tactics.

Rather just take away the whole "reward" (jersey for age cat) and be done with it!!!

 

SA champs should be to determine just that.....the SA champ......not who is fastest at a certain age.....

(No offence to the guys putting in the training)

 

But yes....Christie has a point. SA champs should focus on determining ONE SA CHAMP and not 5 different ones in their respective ages.

That said, they still hand out green and yellow striped jerseys and I for one would KILL to have the talent and opportunity to win one but would like to have a good sporting chance. Mixing up tactics between 30-34, 35-39 and 40-44 age cats is going to ruin the whole thing.
