Upd from my side, seems i've managed to break the internals of my Force right shift lever and it will be fixed under warranty. Taken 7 months of riding, anybody else out there had issues with SRAM??

So i've been "FORCE"d to ride my older bike with DA, i'm seriously thinking of going back to Shimano!

SRAM is south african owned, in a way. J Rubert's invesment company bought a "parcel" of investment products from Lehman(?) Brothers when they went down and SRAM was part of that.

I am on RED for 2 years as well now - IMHO only it beats Campy and Shimano. I found that with Force you have to push the shift leaver further than with Red - that is the only difference from a driver interaction perspective. It is said that Force cassette run quiter than Red but i have not tried it yet. I use a dura ace chain as the hollowpin Red chain also contribute to the noice factor of Red.

Should you want to "upgrade" in future I would suggest upgrade to Red shifters only as that is where the magic is - the rest of the grouppo don't differ a lot.

With SRAM I really enjoy the fact that you can climb on the brakes and shift at the same time

Lots :) Think in the 7 months, i must of been doing about 400-500km a week? I asked other boys i know that have been riding SRAM a long time and they haven't had any issues. P's me off tho that spares still haven't been shipped in 5 working days?

Do you mean climb as in riding out the saddle up hill? Or pull the brakes to stop yourself? And shifting at the same time?

Either way, i've done it with Shimano no issues

They have upgraded Force last year or so. It now has the same "swing" distance as Red. Rival and Apex still have the long movement.

I took the leap from Ultegra to Red in 2009. Red is extremely precise and fast shifting with so little effort and finger movement.

With the pic of your bike Red would just finish it off nicely!

May you continue to enjoy SRAM.

I really hope u don't have to deal with SRAM in JHB, still waiting for my shifter, it's been 21 days & lots of BS.

Apparently they have a service centre for Gauteng, possibly have it sent to CPT, maybe the chilled mountain people are more efficient! This will apply to all SRAM type products, MTB kit, shocks etc

Any idea if Shimano's service is any better?

Holy s.... that has been ages....

I have thankfully not had any technical issues with either the Shimano / Sram.... (touch wood)... make a post out of it, I am sure you will find some sort of assistance.

Good luck
