Even this can be disputed.

I guess I won't be using it.

I agree.

I doubt it is applicable to us, maybe to the full-on professionals in Europe

Ok been wanting to ask this question for a while, what about walking. I find running kills my body. I am just to big (not fat) I weight 118kg.

What is better.

half a hour run

hour walk

3 hour cycle.

Us bigger folks are just not made for running Big J-WP. I last ran while in the army, and that was because I had to. Weekly shots of Voltarin kept me going. There was always something hurting, either a knee or a hip or an ankle. I remember breaking a bone in my left foot on the last day of 'Vasbyt', as we were heading towards the end, we had the bright idea to sprint the last few hundred meters to show off our fitness. Not a good idea with the grootsak on the back. Because I was the biggest in the squad I also had to carry the radio and pick and shovel. Afterwards I was on crutches for 6 weeks. Which led to the next interesting thing. I was previously only hitting around 8-10 pull-ups in the fitness test. After 6 weeks on the crutches I could hit 28. My push-up count also more than doubled. Now that was good cross training.

Yah, targeted at the hardcore racers... ;)

I know hardcore racers, very hardcore, not wanting to name drop, some guys have competed in the great TDF and guess what , they run.

4-5 k's at a time at least three times a week.

But I guess the real hardcore racers are the A batch starters.
