deleting sold items

There are thousands of really old posts - i have just sold an item and i have no idea of how to delete it from the 'for sale' list. i don't just want to append 'sold' to the topic title - that just wastes time for everyone. In a similar vein, is a 'for sale' post automatically deleted after some predetermined time?

I say keep it on. Gives a good price reference for future buyers/sellers.

i suggest the mods make some effort to close the SOLD threads. avoids that annoying EPIC THREAD REVIVAL disorder some seem to suffer from

then again, it would be awesome if the sellers updated their threads too

The new classifieds site will have a built-in sweeper option, if I remember correctly... This being said - it's a valid point concerning the market price, no? I've done a few searches before for items I was looking to sell, to get an idea of what they went for previously...

As RodTi has said, the new Classifieds will address this is a few ways....

 

- Sellers can easily manage and close their threads (mark as sold) - currently mods would have to do this

- Ads are automatically closed after 30 days, the seller can optionally re-list the ad for another 30 days if the item is still for sale

 

I'm tidying up the way closed ads are displayed. At the moment you can only see the title of the item with a CLOSED notice, however there's definitely value in allowing people to review past adverts for pricing or even assessing potential traders. So it will be opened up to view only.

I think the old sale adds are a useful source of information with regards to current pricing on items. Have used it a number of items for reference purposes.
