Very nice looking bike.

Is that without pedals?

The one I put on the scale was 8.5kgs with pedals.

Cube bikes are usually 300g less than there advertised weight

You have a rigid carbon fork on your single speed ?

Nope - currently running a Singular steel fork on the SS. I had a carbon fork on my 26" SS and it was HARD. Don't believe the hype about steel flexing or carbon damping. The difference between a shock and a rigid set up is severe!

I rode the same race on my shocked race bike and my rigid SS. No worries at all on my race bike - blisters on both hands with the rigid. It is HARSH!

Thats impressive  With lighter tyres you can drop another 500 grams. Post a pic of your bike.

Ok here is one of my sluts, she use to belong to Eldron , but she likes me more :D

getting back to this thread topic, this is the most cost effective way to get a light hard tail.

I've grown up riding bicycles with no suspension. When I started MTB again 18 months ago, it felt very strange with the "unstable" air fork and it made me feel not in control on technical downhill stuff and therefore I locked out my front fork and have ridden it like that since. I like to ride with soft hands anyway, so I'll see. Will let you know.

Sokay - Eldron has a new toy.

I decided to screw everybody by buying a 29er rigid single speed fixie:

Ah - this I can understand - I feel the same way about rear suspension.

I crashed too much using a rigid front so I opted to keep the suspension - probaly more my lack of skill than the bike!

Either way - let us know...is it SS or geared?

No fully geared, all 30 of them. That is one improved over the years that has made the MTB'ing a lot more fun and easier on the climbs with uneven terrain.

Old school , make no mistake those xtr "v's" are better than the discs on most bikes.

Interesting. What is the weight saving vs say, XT disk brake set ?

I wouldn't trust a no name carbon frame, definitely not one in the 1Kg range.

Take a look at the Swiss Power boys, 8.6KG 29r .. most drool worthy!

But those are carbon tubby rims and hand made Ducast tyres. Probably less then 2kg for wheels and tyres.

What , i dont know ! but lets try.

1. XT hubs will be heavier then crossmax non disc hubs ( no bolts holes and less strength needed)= so xtr v lighter

2. xtr v break lever are lighter that xt hydrolic levers = so xtr v lighter

3. xtr cables with inners are probly the same weight as hoses and fliud = equal

4. i would say xtr v breaks are lighter than xt calipers = so xtr v lighter.

so what we got , 3x xtr v lighter and 1x equal makes the xtr lighter x 3. :P

Indeed! The carbon tubby/dugast combo alone probably costs more than 99% of complete bikes on thehub...

Just be careful and I have heard this from quite a few people and seen 2 dented rims. The AC rims are very soft. Rather mate the AC hubs with the ZTR Alpine or Crest or even the podium's. just my 2c worth
