Don't rarely have a problem with taxi's in general.  Usually more couteous than other drivers.

i also find that if you are on 2 wheels the taxis aren't too bad, although they are much nicer to you if you're on bicycle than bike. either way is better than when you're in your car

Ja that can work, thats if his arm is out the window..... but a squirt of brake fluid on the car without them knowing works like a charm too...

The only way to cycle is to assume that everyone else on roads are idiots and that they ARE trying to kill you. And you won't be wrong.

Foe Fighter I also find all busses and some trucks to be the worst...and of course the BMW / Merc / sort of cars driven by certain individuals.

It amazes me how some truck drivers are very curtious while others just ride you off the road.

Once was cycling home from work down DF Malan here in Pretoria.  THere was some proplem up the road and the traffic was backed up for about 2 kilometers and standing dead still.  I came down slowly between lane 1 and 2 of the 3 lane road when some dik oom (no it was not Big H) sitting in his Conquest noticed me in his mirror.  I think the thought of me being home an hour before him was just one too much.  He almost rammed into the car on his left to close the gap for me.

In his moment of stupidity he left half a lane open for me to pass him on the right. I could not resist stopping next to him looking him in the face and chuckle before continuing home.

Doing my out and back ride the other afternoon, one of these big trucks transporting Chrome, also decided that me riding to the extreme left of an double lane road was not giving him enough room to pass, so he brushed pass me so close that his wheels almost touched me. What he did not know (and I did) was that they had a road block a kilometre up the road and when I went past them earlier I saw one of the Traffic officials whose daughter is also a cyclist.

I sprinted like mad to get there in time and did so just as the truck was pulled over for the normal checks. I gleefully called the guy I know over and told him of the incident. Dunno what happened next, but knowing him, that driver got at least an earfull!!

I carried on, quite content and chuffed.
