If it is as good as the Anthem 29er, it is going to rock the market. Top end components and would be half the price of competitors bikes.

A friend of mine just cracked his 5th Anthem X Advanced....in about a year....just as a matter of interest ;)

Then your friend must stay of carbon. ;)

Some people is just harder on frames than others. I know a 58kg Laaitie that has cracked more GT Zaskars as an example. Does it make it a bad bike - NO!

Ja the Zaskar is not a bad bike, in fact it is a piece of **** !

On my 2nd one, 4 months and no frame yet

Anyway onto the Giant - Should be available in SA ? Will that be the only model ? Decent spec but me being me, I'd like something a bit more "bling" :P

Guess the wheels are the only thing that needs attention really, they look heavy ?

I have the Anthem X1 29er with the same wheels. I won't classify them as heavy. I think that they are quite light. The problem might be that they are not tubeless, although I converted mine with Stans tape. They might also not be the strongest, but I have no problems.

Considering that I have an XL (big ship) and FS, the total weight is 11,3kg.

He is actually a purely xc rider who is in his 50s and not particularly aggressive. So, no drop-offs or jumping.

If he's breaking so many of them doing what the bike is intended for, then there is a problem.

I saw the R65000 carbon Anthem this weekend on on the top tube it's got a big yellow sticker saying that you should not clamp anywhere on the frame. How are you going to transport the thing, wrapped in cotton wool?

Are you sure there is not something wrong with your scale? With the standard wheels 11.3 I would like to see that.

Agree, friend has the Hardtail non tubeless weighs 12kg, so 11.3 for a full sounds light. It does have other parts than the HT though....but still lighter is hard to believe.

Any news when this Giant will be available? where can I get that brochure pictured above?

I wonder why the chainstays are different. It's not like they need to make space for travel.

The chain stays are highly asymmetrical with the driveside dipping down below the chainrings but the non-driveside taking a straighter shot from the bottom bracket to the dropout.

Not a bad looking bike! I like the new look of the XTC carbon bikes. Got to see the new Momsen 29er at the Argus Expo. Now that is a good looking bike and at R45000 its not a bad buy. Not convinced yet about this 29er hype but would not mind that as a nice to have extra bike ;)
