  1. That will not convince me. What is good for some is not good for others. Unless I try myself, I'm not convince. If you still need to be convinced, then the other guys know something you don't.
  2. Eggbeater Sl weighs 133g/pedal it is based on the original eggbeater and is pretty much indestructible. Definately our most popular pedal. Candy Sl weighs 146g/pedal it has a greater surface area which means more of your shoe presses down on the pedal. Being bigger it is easier "to find" when clipping in. This is my favourite pedal because I am not the most skilled rider around. On the technical stuff, I can clip out and continue riding as if I had a normal flat pedal.
  3. if you are looking at the Cane Creek Ergo grips, you CANNOT go wrong. I have had the same set from before the 2005 Epic. they work in both wet and dry condition. I have never slipped off them - ever - even when riding without gloves on in the wet. alu and carbon ones may be lighter, but the rubberised Cane Creeks are egonomic and comfy.

  5. That is a Candy C in Slate Blue the OEM pedals are usually black or light grey
  6. I saw a guy on tv during the Crocodile Trophy in Aus trying to fix one with a rock. Ended up riding it with clip in part attached to the shoe and spindle on the bike. He did not clip in and out, he slided on and off. he had a bearing failure. the bearing is sealed so he must have been riding it a long time in a deteriorated state for it to collapse so dramatically. it would have felt rough and made a bit of a noise for quite some time. rebuild kits (containing a set of bearings) are readlily available from the bike shops. Replacing the bearing is so easy even I can do it - 2 minute job tops
  7. KK!!!! there have been very few incidents of spindle failure - 6 to be exact in South Africa The main cause has been BIG crashes
  8. Shimano pedals have been the OEM pedal (pedals on new bikes) of choice for many years. people usually stick to what they start with. Every year more manufactures are using Crank Brothers pedals so their popularity is growing.

  13. hey Banji what's happening this week in SA pro-cycling land?
  14. Hi Shamus Who ever wrote this stuff doesn't have many facts, and must be a bit of an idiot. there is a potential sponsor that Malcolm has secured, and not one of Doug's for that matter, as with who may go or not, there is no establishment of that yet, So i would not take this to heart, And wouldn't it be better if there were more teams to fill the pool in SA? I don't think that MTN would disappear if a rider or two went to another team. But it would certainly increase the interest in how that racing pans out - don't you think? Posted: Today at 11:58am After saving the Malcolm Lange Sinking ship a few years ago, Malcolm has done the unthinkable by stabbing Douglas Ryder in the back. When Malcolm was removed from the HSBC cycling team for personal reasons, Douglas came to the rescue and offered him a ride on his team. Malcom took it with open arms and proved to be a valuable signing. With malcolm on the team Doug managed to secure big sponsors and build a strong team. Now the tides have turned. Malcolm has infact started his own team with some of Dougs Sponsors, which may cause the colapse of MTN cycling team. To add salt to the wounds, Nic the Prick and Ian are going with. Now bearing in mind, Nic and his buddies knew about the demise of HSBC way before the rest of his team did and secured his own future with MTN before the announcement was made. So, ten years down the line what can the local cycling scene in South Africa say about the established riders. Are they still the scheming bunch they were a few years back. Is it still a case of "I am ok Jack, Skrew you". I think so. So, as to all the psychophantic cheerleading about Malcolm Lange and his 380 odd wins, what are the critics going to say? Mind you, try and have a conversation with either Nic or Mal and you can see why the two of them need to carry on riding their bikes. Flicking your saviour like that makes me wondor just how hard it would be for them to put a needle in the vein. you might want to check this out.
