  1. good question Buckstopper. the HP Folding is rated from 6 to 10 bar, the tubular version from 8 to 14 bar. keep in mind that tyres were initially invented to absorb shock from the road surface - the original bikes had steel hoops only. Very noisy and very hard on the body. They also allow for better control - steering etc. I am sure you will agree that our road surface is really rough and that Europeans have it a little easier than we do. The harder you pump your tyres, the less (shock absorbtion) comfort you will have when you ride. Also there is no significant performance increase above 8 bar. Harder isn't always better. you can read more about this at: http://www.schwalbe.com/gbl/en/tech_info/luftdruck/ and http://www.schwalbe.com/gbl/en/tech_info/luftdruck/?gesamt=38&ID_Land=38&ID_Sprache=2&ID_Seite=136&tn_mainPoint=TechnikInfos
  2. Howzit Dukeblue the nobby's are angled in such a way that they will either give more drive or more control depending on the direction they are rolled. it is very important that you face the tyre in the correct direction for its purpose. dropping the PSI will put more tyre in contact with the ground and you will experience better grip - but for optimal performance have your tyre turned the "right" way round take it to your LBS, let them get dirty S

The U-block shoulder lugs are revolutionary: They are positioned against the direction of rotation in order to have more cornering control. 23. I have to to support Ray on this issue, as I import tyres too. (Schwalbe) I see similar problems but in my experience this problem is usually due to Really good tyres being mounted on poorly built rims. to quote the Schwalbe Technical guys: Why is it sometimes so difficult to fit a tire? Fitting difficulties often arise when the diameters of the rim and the tire do not match perfectly. Rims can have a diameter tolerance of +/- 0.5 mm. In addition, each rim flange height can also have a tolerance of +/- 0.5 mm. These figures add up to a total diameter tolerance of +/- 1.5 mm, or 4.7 mm over the circumference. This corresponds to a maximum possible circumferential difference of 9.4 mm between the largest and the smallest rim. A tire has to fit on both extremes, so because a safe fit has to be ensured even on the smallest permissible rim diameter, the proper centering of the tire on the largest permissible rim can prove quite difficult. The circumferential tolerance of SCHWALBE tires is +/- 1mm.
