    MotoGP

A few wins he will have but unfortunately the end is near . He will always be one of the greatest we have seen on a bike .
  2. "Old man did 14 Cape Argus's with this thing! " I raced provincials on that THING many, many years ago !!!
  3. For a commuter you simply will not find anything better than an NC . I travel 128km everyday , rain , snow and wind . Been doing it the last 12 years and 2 been on the NC . It will not rip your arm of when you pull away but it does 160 very easily . Mine gives me 31.9km now and as you may have gathered , I do a lot of 160 riding to stay ahead of the cagers on the N3 . Once you replaced the air filter with a K&N unit your service cost drops a lot , and service intervals are every 12000km . The bike also handles very well . People say it feels like the bike does not want to turn , but if you lean it you can be sure it will stay on course and you can scrape footpegs if so inclined . But it is a commuter and not a superbike , it does what it is suppose to do exceptionally well .
  4. We discuss the pro's and con's of different bikes almost daily at the Ultra City morning pit stop . Only coffee involved so it does not get to out of hand , but in general everybody agree that if you want to get a DS bike BMW would be the obvious candidate . 1 . after sales service is apparently very good 2 . Spares availability the best of any manufacturer 3 . They claim that their DS range are very capable off-road and on Even the KTM and Truimp (one) dude has to agree . The poor chap with his Truimp said he's been waiting for some spare for his bike for 2 months now . I gave up MX and weekend riding many years ago and now only commute . So I don't own a DS bike anymore and have never owned a BMW bike , one BMW car was enough to put me of the product . But even on my NC750 I have noticed that normal consumables like filters , plugs and the likes are very expensive compared to what the BMW people claim they are paying .
  5. Well done Mike , that was an awesome effort . Will Jacques or Leon be able to beat the record today ?
  6. My On-One fork is about 8 years old . Send it for a scan (to check for fiber fatigue) last year and it passes the test . Awesome fork . I also got the Rapide fork on the other SS and also very impressed with the performance . This Rapide took a real beating last year and it is a very strong fork thats not to "rigid" . Fat Grips and high volume tyres just complete the package if you go that route .
  7. No cars on my tracking screen , maybe it shows heavy traffic ?
  8. Have we got a two riders that got totally lost or just GPS problems ?
  9. Did the Roy's sleep under a tree last night ?
  10. Like I said to somebody the other day , the toughest thing about RASA wasn't the race , it's the fact that I cannot do it every year ! Green sounds wonderful , warm not really thank you
  11. Don't want to spoil Marnitz RASA threat with RTC updates and banter . Anyway I see the batch from yesterday are moving along nicely but have lost two souls that's making their way to Slaapkranz with a day 2 rider hot on their heels .
  12. Am I expecting to little ? Found a old laptop lying in the study , slapped Kodi on there , install remote on all Apple devices and am happy .
  13. Being summer they should have a bit more daytime for the RTC . I see the two Roy's are covering the back but they must get to that portage before dark . Did it in the dark and it's not very nice , especially if you slightly of the route .
  14. Wasn't that the day he took that small bike down the drop at Fountains ?
  15. And while we arguing that point , anybody got any updates ?
  16. I got a 29" frame , used once by an old lady . You just need the wheels , the rest from your old bike will work . Collect + 6 beers .
  17. Since I don't use cleats or any other fancy means to attach myself to the bike , I have been cycling with normal hiking shoes . From the few adverture races I have done in the past I have learned : 1 . There's no such thing as a water proof boot , but some dry quicker than others 2 . The lighter the boot the shorter the distance you can travel with them before they fall apart 3 . There is no such thing as a warm boot that drains water quickly . 4 . Velcro is not a good substitute for shoelaces After looking at all the options it was down to the Solomon's and Hi-Tech's . I got the both and after a few months of using them settled on the H-Tech's . Fantastic shoes although I had to bin them after the race . But all this information is useless if you like to be attached to your bike . Never pass the opportunity to fill your water bottles . If you follow that rule you will be ok with 4 bottles .
  18. Also had a look at this type of setup 2 years ago . But cost put an end to it . Like already been mentioned , without a battery pack you better be sure you will be cycling all the time else it will get dark very suddenly
  19. Why PPA ? Have I missed something ? Who do I pay my license fees to these days ?
  20. I suppose now is a good time to get on the bike again .
  21. Well said , I wanted to say something similar but with my diplomatic skills it would have came out wrong .
  22. Because I don't like a dirty bike and the fact that we got water restriction I haven't cycled for 6 months . I win .
