I fully agree with the advice scotty has given. does this budget include riding kit? (helmet, gloves, shoes, pants etc) Other advice I can give is get the best helmet and cycling shorts/bib you can afford and stay away from Game/Makro type bikes we were all in your shoes once and most of the people on here love helping out the new guys! welcome to the hub and MTB!

I have been reading this thread for some time and feel it is time I also come forward and share my experience with this calling "Dibs" on sales. Last year I had an Orange water bottle lid for sale. On more than one occasion hubbers called "dibs" and " I will take it" only to wast my time and ruin my sale. In the end not one of them ever paid me, causing my thriving new venture to close down. dude I was wanting to spend 40k on a build and had problems with people getting back to me! Bike shops need to be run by two types of people, 1 - somebody with business skills and 2 - somebody with bike knowledge. Unfortunately most bike shops have number 2 but NO number 1
