  1. at least he keeps us entertained? if the press has snothing to write about, there's always jules.
  2. the friday before and monday after were PERFECT days. last year i had to concentrate too hard to keep myself and the tandem in one piece, couldn't enjoy the views - so this year the views were extra-stunning!! when's it on 11 or 15 march again??
  3. aaaww sylvester that's not fair - nothing can compare to kremetart. oh no let me rephrase: no ROAD ride can compare to kremetart! cat-i2010-03-18 11:57:52
  4. you got contacts high up?
  5. that's why i wore the black ribbon. and i have tied it onto my camelback, it will stay there as a reminder that i must think for everyone around me - whether i'm on the bike or in my car.
  6. Samma? what happened to the rank???
  7. LOL and while they're not doing it? i quite liked a phrase that was playing top-volume just before chappies a few years ago ... 'i really don't think you're strong enough' ... it played in my head the whole way up chappies ... and i kept interrupting the tune with 'i'll show you i am' ... it played again in my head up chappies this year what happened to the 'suiker-bossie ek wil jou he' up suikerbossie this year? i'm sure there wasn't a year where i haven't heard this up that hill?
  8. Jis ek sal dit laaik. Was nog nooit daar nie. Ek mis altyd die grouprides daar. awwwww shwynn good luck with the fights that are waiting for you mamp - laat my weet as jy groenies toe gaan! hierdie maandag?????
  9. at least the tandem was heavy so it couldn't just blow away for nothing. avoiding all the other flying objects was a bit more tricky.
  10. mine's badly scarred. but not hairy ooops sorrrrrry!!! it was instinct, i'm really trying !!! is it thursday yet?????
  11. helmets with peaks? camelbacks? other things that can give mountainbikers away? really??? hahahaha for you, greay-owl, i'll wear a mismatched pair!
  12. gfa - the lycrians are humans with families and dreams. they are people. lie on your hooter if they're all over your road and you simply have to get them out of the way. the lycrians know too well that they are the bottom of the food chain. every now and again they are reminded of this fact with news like this. the driver of the bakkie may feel really bad right now. there's an upcoming court case, possibly culpible homicide. murder. do you think you're doing his case a favour with statements like this? do you have a mountain bike? do you sometimes ride it? in tokai? or in jonkershoek? a road bike, perhaps? ever cycled through misty cliffs? attempted the argus, maybe? cat-i2010-03-09 16:40:15
  13. LOL but did you SEE that wind luckily i've never been fast enough to not enjoy the view at misty cliffs. even with last years bad weather, and trying to not crash the tandem, that views were still amazing ... that, and the climb up chappies - wow!
  14. am also using the double-sided ones and i very often use the flat sides. it gives me the confidence to try hills that are too steep for me - or all kinds of other technical stuff. it's prefect fo me.
  15. people are dead. what does it matter who were right or wrong?
  16. i received a bright light as a prezzie a year ago - was meant for night riding (which i use it for) - but i found i get a LOT more respect from cars if i use the bright light on my daily commute - to a point where i can cross republic (about 100m from the crossing with malibingwe) AND hill street (again a block down from malibongwe) because cars stop and make way. when i noticed it first, i experimented, and it's the light that make the difference, not the bright yellow jacket or the time of day. i think it's pretty cool to be alive
  17. this is why i'm gonna wear one, on sunday and for the rest of the month - to remind me of what i can do to make it safer - we are not powerless. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=79070
  18. gonna wear a black armband on sunday. it will be a sign of my pledge to make the south african roads safer. when on my bike on public roads i'll: - respect traffic rules - know that i'm invisible to all vehicles - ride single file - in an event, when there's not full road closure, ensure that i stay on the left side of the white line - wear my helmet - and fasten it (2 guys in groenkloof on sunday - one with helmet, but not fastened, and the other one with his helmet in his backpack???) - wave and smile thank you when-ever a car noticed me and gave me a gap (even though it was legally my turn at the traffic circle) when i'm in my car i'll - not answer the cell phone if i don't have my hands free kit already on the phone (that includes not fumbling for the hands free kit when the phone rings) - calling back is cheaper than repairing damage to the car - not type sms's - not put on make-up while in traffic (was watching the whole episode in the car in front of me last week - from base to mascara and liquid eyeliner, 4 different shades of eye-shaddow, lips, even the hair) - not accelerate when the traffic light is red - not clog up the whole intersection when the light is green, so that no-one else can get through when it's their turn - be curteous to at least one driver a day (even if it is a taxi) - with some luck he'll pass it on. anybody else who wants to help me with this??
  19. looks like the R62 on the way to calitzdorp.
