  1. yep. you have to choose your time carefully though, to late in the morning and traffic picks up, then it gets sketchy in certain places.
  2. Cruise out to BRB
  3. First of all Diesel's post was italics - i.e. said in jest. Secondly though, its not the same as liberating extra power/speed because the manufacturer was holding it back. Everyone knows the bikes are capable of going quicker, they were held back by LAWS governing their speed for safety reasons. If you want to use your car analogy, the german vehicle manufacturers used to have a maximum agreed speed for their vehicles of 250 km/h. This was for safety concerns. Many of their vehicles could go quicker, and if you visited the correct person they could plug in their laptop and remove this speed limit.
  4. its more stress management, but the added benefit of weight management is much appreciated.
  5. After yet another night of restless sleep and waking up to wet roads from the rain during the night, I was tempted to not ride. I’m glad I went out.
  6. 100% , most of these regulations are put in place for the lowest common denominator, thought up by someone sitting behind a desk that has never experience real world scenarios. Even as a normal home owner, I'm not calling a sparky to do basic things. It helps that I have an N3 in electricians work so I know a small amount about pulling wire and making sparks, but 90% of what needs to be done around a home can be done by anyone that takes 5 minutes to understand how it works and safety around it. I would imagine on a working farm down time costs money, even before you call out the "pros" to fix the issue, the sooner you get it repaired and get the operation up and running the less you lose. Now having to wait for a "pro" to get out to you for something minor is just not viable.
  7. and then cry when something breaks. Granted there are people that do a better job than the so called professionals, but without regulation how would you know who these people are.
  8. you see this right here, this is one of the reasons why vehicle manufacturers were insisting your vehicle needs to be serviced with them in order to keep the warranty. Far to many backyard type guys "that can fix cars for cheap cheap" . (I say one of the reasons, we all know the other reason is money).
  9. yes technically you should not even be changing a plug as a non sparky.
  10. I wonder how this fire proof battery installation will affect trolley inverters ? Weight on the roof is something most people dont think about. But how much does a panel weigh ? And if they are going that route they should also look at pool solar heating installations. Re: the COC. When we bought our current place it obviously came with a COC. Yet when we moved in there was no power to the garage, some investigation revealed that all the neutral wires in the DB were not tightened into the circuit breakers, most of them were making enough contact to but the garage one was not. I should have called the sparky that issued the COC but it was just quicker and easier to simply tighten all the wires into their respective breakers.
  11. There are number of factors that will change the exact circumference of the setup, even things like amount and design of the tread, tyre pressure etc. But for ball park calcs to show the small difference in speed, using rim size will suffice.
  12. I bought off of takealot last time as they were the cheapest (with shipping). It seems though that the stock issues have plagued them too and they have not had 28mm cinturatos for some time
  13. dont have the clearance to go 32mm. Plus 28mm already looks so wide to me its like I'm riding a gravel bike.
  14. 26" wheel at 32 km/h will spin at 257 RPM 29" wheel at 32 km/h will spin at 230 RPM you will be doing 35.7 km/h on a 29" wheel at 257 RPM 26" wheel @257 RPM will travel 533m per minute 29" wheel @257 RPM will travel 594m per minute A 26" wheel will spin at 287RPM to travel a similar distance. That will equate to 35.7km/h.
  15. pirelli cinturato 28c tyres have been around R800 the last 2 times I've bought, now, if you can find them in 28c, they are the wrong side of 1k, pushing 1200 at some places. I'm nursing the current set as long as possible hoping for a special somehwere or for prices to come down.
  16. I have the entire yard as a single scene so turn on all lights. But have never activated or tested the proximity automation as I worry about battery life on my phone having it running, but I do manually activate the scene when I'm close to home and its awesome coming home at night and everything is lit up. Coming home christmas eve with our internet not working I was unable to activate the scene, was strange having only 1 or 2 lights that are on day/night switches on.
  17. I dont use Home Assistant (yet). I looked at it once, was not in the mood to figure things out and just left it. But, along the same lines as your above quote. I'm running sonoff devices. Native firmware and native EWElink app (although integrated into Google Home too). All was running 100%. Until, the dogs decided they wanted more fibre in their diet and climbed into the exposed bit of fibre cable. Twice. In one week. That left us without internet for an entire week, At the worst possible time, between Christmas and New Year. I discovered the cold way that after a certain amount of time of not being able to talk to their greater power in the cloud, that sonoff devices stop running scheduled timers. I climbed into the shower one morning to luke warm water. So whilst I still had LAN control of the devices, they refused to run the scheduled timers.
  18. dont worry, according to my junk mail folder they are getting their admin money by asking people that have not ordered anything to pay them. I get at least one email a day from a range of courier companies saying my package is waiting for delivery I must just pay their admin fee. lol. (the problem comes when I eventually do order something, how will I know)
  19. motorcycle related. We had a young chap come in to the dealership last week. I suspect he was up to some not so good intentions as he first asked about cars and then bikes, but his behaviour was suspicious. Whilst he was at the bike he was joined by a young lady. He asked a few questions with the bike guys and then said he would just like to browse. A few minutes later he climbs onto a BMW 1200 touring style bike (sorry dont know my bikes, it wasnt an adventure style bike and not a sports bike style either) on the used section. Next thing we hear a crash, he had tried to right the bike up from the kickstand and just continued to fall over in the opposite direction, taking a used NC750 down with him like dominos falling. Fortunately the only damage to the bikes was a broken brake lever on the NC.
  20. Thats all assuming you are discharging the battery substantially during LS times. (which I guess most people do as over speccing backup supply is rather costly) My little trolley inverter is overspecced for what we bought it for, so even though I have a few extra things plugged in, we make sure to not or sparingly use them during LS times. Hopefully this will help the Gel batteries last a little longer.
  21. cant believe the cost of tyres. And thats if you can get the tyre in the size you want.
  22. Thank you gents. Love learning about stuff like this
  23. thanks @Spinnekop, some interesting stats to track.
  24. how are the controls on a plane operated ? hydraulics or electric ? would the RAT allow for the operation of the controls if they are electric ? or is it purely for comms and some emergency stuff ?
