  2. doubt it, always had my racetec result within hours (sometimes even less) after I finished. This new crowd best get their act together. I gave them the benefit of the doubt last year as they were new, but a year down the line and they still cant (wont) do batch groupings. Plus as had been mention (today and previously), with 20+ years of races under the belt I really liked having the results all in one place (aka racetec site).
  3. but he is not entirely wrong. climb, climb and climb somemore
  4. yeah considering I started so far forward I saw way to many e-bikes. What made the second half harder this year was the unusual head wind, and as much as my weather app had predicted it slowing down as the day went it actually got worse.
  5. nothing to do with the event organisers, but a Garmin bitch I have live tracking activated. Mainly for safety tracking during training, but for races I then add a few family members to the list so they can track me. Yesterday I assumed it started, I was to busy concentrating on navigating the so called neutral zone to worry about checking. It never started. 3 hours later, my Garmin beeps to tell me "Live Track Started". WTF?
  6. SUDO cream. can be found in the baby aisle
  7. Have to agree with Frosty on this. Even though I was having a *** day physically and mentally, the hills did not bother me as much as I thought they would, although I did go much slower than I wanted to
  8. We came flying past and high speed, but there were a number of guys down. I took a close look since I knew Frosty was up ahead of me before that, so was checking to see if he might have been caught up.
  9. There is still room for improvement from the organisers side, but overall well put together.
  10. have to agree. Apparently Coke is trying hard to push Coke Zero onto the market, but a sporting event where you need the sugar afterwards is not the place for this. I had a few sips and then chucked the rest. Thank fully i had a bottle of energy drink in a cooler box in my car.
  11. Official time puts me 2 minutes quicker than last year. but check this
  12. My kids have both been sick so I’m assuming that as much as I tried to avoid it I picked something up from them.
  13. There was a heck of a lot of glass on the roads today
  14. Tail wind plus fast bunch and we were cruising at 60km/h down the M1. when I took woodmead off-ramp my avg speed was 42km/h
  15. Today was not the day. Started with Frosty, the plan was to stick with him to a sub3. it lasted 7km and I was done. I have not suffered in a race like this for a long time, zero power in the legs, nose running the entire time resulting in me having coughing fits every now and then. I’m still coughing. I guess the last few days HRV being lower than normal was an indication of the body fighting something. Somehow I managed to continue, stopped for short breaks a few times, but could not put the effort in to stick to groups as they passed me. 2 minutes slower than last year is more an indication of the training I put in rather than the race being good. sub 3 I’m coming for you next year.

  17. I guess a headwind home is what it will be.
  18. nah, permatubes are where its at. Makes the kids tougher too.
  19. stop tiring yourself out, you have to pull me tomorrow
  20. always take your own, do not rely on others
  21. I just customised mine with a permanent marker
  22. I found similar was my initial impressions too.
  23. Could not find my name on the wall. Went back twice. Did they just throw the names into a random order generator and then print them, much like they did with the seeding. Took my timing board with, did not scan it anywhere. Useless expo (as we've come to expect), but I knew Dischem was going to be there so stocked up on a few nutrional goodies and also decided to eventually see what the magic is about with Ass Magic so bought a tub from Bike Alot. Also met up with a friend from Cape Town and had a quick chat. Good luck for all on Sunday. @Frosty I'll see you on the start line. Edit. What is up with these people. Bib number does not match timing board number, and I did not get reseeded.
  24. I keep telling myself that those hills are pretty sheltered so it should be ok.
  25. how did you transfer the print to the boards ? I'm envious of your tool collection
