  1. 1 month away, but latest forcast
  2. Newspaper and bicarb to absorb the moisture and smell in the shoes. But also try some better socks. It sounds like your socks are not doing a good job and managing your sweat.
  3. ACE, it seems you are a little to close to see the bigger picture here. Yes it was an oversight. But, as a race organiser, should you, or atleast someone else, atleast take a drive through the course later that day or the next to make sure all equipment (toilets, barriers, cones, or whatever else) is cleaned up ? this issue was reported on here last week already. were the organisers contacted ? I dont know, but it does mean that trash has been there for over a week now, possibly getting blown into the surrounding areas. It does not provide a good picture to the public for cycling in the area.
  4. I've had this before with a previous race, mistakenly took the wrong chip. It happens. Also got the initially to bad so sad response. Very poor form from them. Cant remember how I got it resolved though.
  5. GT Gel by Pace and Power
  6. Therapy for the mind and body. I just needed to get out, work stress as well as this weather that brings me down. Decided rain or shine I’m riding.
  7. for me its a V90 T6 or T8 Cross Country. We had a demo T6 with Polestar tune when I was still at Volvo. Sleeper car of note, but would make you giggle everytime you put your foot down. Loaded with luxury, loaded with safety and MASSIVE amounts of space.
  8. Regarding Gel wrappers. I used to hate putting the empty wrappers in my pockets as they would often leak. But did so anyway. But lately I've been using a locally produced energy gel that you decant into a small sippy bottle and take little sips during your ride. so much better, no more sticky fingers etc. and no wrappers to discard. Would be great if more nutrition manufacturers go this route.
  9. Nice watch, but the rain sucks. I'm not a fan of this continuous rain.
  10. so far just CTCT 947 If budget allows I'll do a few more local ones. 2 wish list ones that are pulling me are The Sabie tour And then I think they call it the Kremertaart. That 1 day stage race. Looks interesting.
  11. browser
  12. Thanks. I could not find anything the last time I looked. Any reason the CSA events dont show anything past september ?
  13. Well if we had a decent central point where we could see all upcoming races in one place and then plan/budget for them it would make life much easier
  14. I found the native abilities of IFTTT limiting. i.e. natively it can only do one argument, so you cant for instance say, if its 18:00 and the water temp is below 45deg then turn on the geyser. There are ways to delve deeper into it and get into proper programming, but I was not prepared to go that route.
  15. looks stylish from the outside, but all reviews mention the lack of space inside and lack of visibility
  16. Yeah the sport we got in SA was made in Japan
  17. Not any time soon in SA though
  18. Nope. Sport has direct injection engine and the normal ones don’t.
  19. I’ve got a sonoff th16 on the pool pump. It’s wired in between the timer and pump, but I have the timer permanently on and the sonoff controlling the scheduling. I’ve actually never set the timer as I installed the sonoff when the timer was installed.
  20. excuse me while I have some alone time
  21. always marveled at the guys riding the 100km back to the start. There was no way we could ever do that with our levels of fitness.
  22. it used to get HOTTT!!!! One year we met the rest of the family at the PnP near the finish. Standing in the parking lot with cycling shoes on and the cleats were melting into the tar.
  23. thats the one. same experience for me. f'ing fast with a time that was very disproportionate to level of fitness.
  24. A note from this weekend. Saturday afternoon I was standing in the street watching my daughter riding her bike with the neighbours. The older of the neighbours kids (about 10) has a Mongoose bmx/trick bike thing. His younger sister was given a new raliegh BMX thing for christmas. It has side wheels and even still has pieces of bubble wrap in places. I noticed her standing on the pedals and the bike not moving, and then she would push the bike around instead of riding it. So I asked her to bring it to me to take a look. Some investigation revealed the back brake is binding on the tyre. For personal reasons I dont want to be known to these kids as being able to fix bikes, so I didnt go get tool, I just released the brake, made sure the front brake has some stopping power and asked her to ride it. Not even 1 pedal stroke later and the chain comes off the sprocket. Put it back, spin the pedals by hand and it seems fine, but the moment she pedals the chain pops off. Closer inspection and the rear wheel is out of alignment, even closer inspection and I see why. The rear drop outs are made of paper thin metal and are bent. How who ever manufactures raliegh in SA thinks that is remotely a good idea I dont know. The lightest of bumps is going to bend those drop outs, like its done in this case. Not all kids bikes are created equal.
