  1. Good on you OP, name and shame is the only way!
  2. component wise the silverback is slightly better specced than the merida.
  3. I hate riding my bike with even the smallest of niggles or squeaky sound- the same would apply for my bike rack. "Maak 'n plan" is not always a good plan. So no, I won't.
  4. You shouldn't' be getting punctures with tubeless- cuts maybe, but not punctures. If you're not running tubeless- do it NOW And like BigD mentioned the Cross marks are good and affordable.
  5. Good luck bump
  6. Ah the wonder of social media! That FB page is getting pretty cramp with complaints- PR disaster in the making!
  7. What's your budget?
  8. Been BMXing and MTB all my life (well, since i was 5) and bought my 1st road bike 1 week before this years Argus. Really nothing to it- just get on and trap! Did 2x 94.7s on my dual susser with knobbies- you just can't keep up with the strong bunches. And slicks on a MTB? Don't castrate your bike please
  9. Same here- seems like there was a system failure. give the race office a call during the week- very helpful indeed.
  10. Nope, i just registered (didn't pay though) and there is an option "no club". It's just the R75 for CSA and the provincial levy that you need to pay. Apperently my stolen bike wasn't enough for development... This is such bullsh!t!
  11. Just contacted the 94.7 race office- they know nothing of this and I'm seeded. I'll give the Argus race office a ring as well to confirm. BTW it's not R75 only, it's another R75 for a provincial levy as well. Guess someone has to fund the drug testing of the Epic's backmarkers.
  12. Okay great- I'm registered. Let's hope they amend it for me. Thanks for the assistance!
  13. Where can I purchase it? I have already entered for the 94.7, can I ammend my entry?
  14. double post
  15. I need some clarification on this issue. I read that for the OFM Classic this year, if you purchase a day license- you will not be seeded. Does this also apply for the 94.7? I do two road races a year- Argus and 94.7, does this mean i will start at the back bunches if I don't have a annual license? If so, how do I go about getting one? PS I did a search and could not find any info on the exact questions. Thanks.
  16. This looks as solid as any of the other ones. Nice design! PS remember the xtra number plate!
  17. No need for this, the clip is threaded on the end- allowing you to fasten it with a screw action. very neat.
  18. Here we go! Please bare in mind I built this today with one massive hangover, so my opinion is very subjective! First off, this is a moerse heavy rack- all 18kg of it. But at least it's solid and looks like it will keep the bikes secured. Secondly it's very big and bulky to store in the garage or house, much more so than the suspension rack. The tilting function works a charm and will come in very handy for sure! Only problem i have with it is that it's got a bolt facing the bumper once the rack is fitted. This bolt keeps the "socket" of the rack spaced very close to the ball- which made it impossible to lock down the handle on the ball. They're very specific on this bolt and how many threads must be visible. Stuff that, I removed it and now the handle is able to lock over the ball. Can't see it fit with that bolt in place. Last issue was the lights' plug. It's a 7 pin plug and i have a 13 pin socket on the towbar, so i'll just get an adapter for that. To conclude- if you're an average weekend warrior with aluminium frames and not to concerned about little scratches here and there- get the suspension type. If you love your bike like i love my beer- get the platform type. If i could, i would return this one for the suspension type. This is my opinion, you'll have yours. Oh, and did i mention it's heavy? Moerse heavy!
  19. Getting mine later this afternoon- imported from Bloem. Will share some pics once I have it.
  20. Have you tested the rack yet? Seems like very good value for money! Please post some comments. And just to make sure- it fits right onto the tow bar ball, no need for funny attachments?
  21. Makes sense. Thanks a lot!
  22. Hi guys, At last my new tjor has a towbar and I no longer need to chuck my bikes in my little Corsa's boot- now i'm shopping for a bike rack. I see a lot of guys opting for the platform type rather than the suspension type, why is that? I have a Tiguan, so ground clearance is not that bad- but taking into account the type of terrains to and from MTB races- wouldn't the suspended (hanging) type be a better option? Any advice is welcome. dL
  23. Thanks bud, but I only recently passed "beginner". Learnt a lot of stuff from Stu Cooper on my trip- his techniques are amazing and his shots even more so. Take a look at his site http://www.goinghomeless.co.za/ - best landscapes I've ever seen, and all in the R S of A.
