  1. Some pics from my recent 6000km East Coast Road trip
  2. Carefull with these pics...
  3. Geeeeeeeez that GoPro casing needs some foam. That clicking/knocking sound is unbearable Curious- the sound is good, which means you had the skeleton casing on (not waterproof) - were you that confident in your skills? EDIT: Priceless footage though!
  4. If my memory serves me correctly- there was another cycle chain store in the PTA area involved with similar allegations against them. The shops have since been sold off- wonder if it's related...
  5. Hahaha! Lovit! No affiliation fee for the Northern Cape! (Then again, no big races in the Northern Cape )
  6. Naaaah, just get on your bike and ride it. Don't do slicks on a MTB! (it's like castrating it) Prepare for it as you would for a normal MTB race/ride and you should be fine. Remember there's a lot of first timers, so you can just cruise at your own pace with the fitness level that you have. You will never be last if you've spent 3 hours on the bike, even if only once! And remember sunblock! Techniblock FTW!
  7. That's some awesome footage Tankman! Will def give the K-edge a check. As for the optimal settings, I'm relatively new to the camera game- but will play around soon in the Transkei, can't wait. 25 days of MTB
  8. I have a PC, but my friend raves about iMovie for his Mac.
  9. This is standard issue on our site. There is no K-way of First Ascent jacket that comes close. It's so good even the NUM and AMCU approved it We added some reflective stripes to it due to OHSA's requirements. Checkit out: http://www.eskimoworkwear.co.za/products.html
  10. Aaaaawh, i thought it was gonna be a thread about "adverse tests" found on a Monster sample. The drink Monster, not a monster cyclist.
  11. To get technical, steam is not a phase seeing as it contains water. Enthalpy must be added to steam until it becomes "dry steam" which is known as "superheated vapour", only then can it be classified as a gas. To answer you question- ammonia (NH3) is used in fridge plants (and your common household fridge) as coolant. It's in the form of a liquid, then after the compression cycle it becomes a gas and then again a liquid once cooled down. NH3 is also used as a fertiliser in its solid state. I know it's not an element, don't know if it's in your scope.
  12. Make your own chest mount!
  13. aspoester klink net nie reg nie
  14. Is it freeware?
  15. The alternative to renaming the videos is to convert them from mp4 to avi with the GoPro CineForm software from the official GoPro site. As mentioned, this takes time- but I prefer to do my "trimming" in CineForm rather than Win Movie Maker...
  16. Hi guys, I've seen some topics on this- and would like to share some recent findings... After too much googling and installing too much video editing software- I found an easier way which I would like to share. If you're a pro or have a Mac, this is not for you... Some advice to me was to convert the mp4 files to avi files before i can use it in MovieMaker. It also works, but here's a easier way without doing the conversion. Step 1. Make sure your codecs are up to date, latest version is 9.9. Simply google "K-lite mega codec pack" available from numerous sites and download Step 2. If you're running XP or Vista (like me) download the latest Windows Movie Maker free from microsoft. Again, google it and download, very easy. Win7 and Win8 should have the correct Movie Maker. Step 3. Run Movie maker, select "Tools", "Options", then "Compatibility" and select ALL the boxes. The above mentioned are once offs. Step 4. go the video file that you have recorded, say "GOPR0056.mp4" and rename the file extension to "avi" like "GOPR0056.avi" Step 5. Drag and drop in Windows Movie Maker and go crazy. As mentioned, this is nothing hi-tec, but a great way to start off for new owners like me
  17. Indeed. Not so well thought out I'd say...

    Newbie

Well there was this guy(?!) -TNT1- who plukked his moer because he was the only "real" cyclist here and was sick and tired of all the 29er talk. He then teamed up with Morpheus (the red pill/blue pill bra) but with the Swordfish alias, not the Matrix one (talented oke, ekse). They devised a plan to hack into theHubSA's mainframe and removed all the interesting topics like the "bikeporn" fred. Come to think of it- i think he also had something to do with Dangle's lekker cherrie fred, al daai tattoos en boobies het hom kwaai negatief gemaak reken ek. So where was I? Raait, the hacking thing. So that lasted for about 2 days, but the oke went all out jy weet! Systems down, rabbit out of hole, Tom Cruise detonation devices kinda stuff. Everything was as down and hanging, like that Kardashian cherrie se boepie ekse! So then came the good guys from "Hubbers please help a lady" fred. They sat around the ICs developing an anti-venom to Loki's savage plan to bring down theHubSA and thus all that is important to us on the whole of the interweb. I can't tell you how they did it cause why its CIA, NSA, FBI, Gupta kinda stuff. But now, I'm typing on theHubSA, so i can tell you that everything is working now, as for the Classifieds: TNT1 created a monopoly (the system, not the game with the little doggy and the cortina) and bought everything on there to spite us. But fear not Newbie Wan Kenobi, this too shall pass and soon, very soon you shall once again be able to browse our classifieds... Edit: another reason for TNT1's anger was the whole "ball shaving incident", maar kom ons krap nou nie waar dit nie jeuk nie...
  19. Hats off to you 2 for that- everyone always complain about the bottle necks at races and about the riders that don't have enough off-road experience, but never take the time to help out. Then there's the guys that give "skills clinics" for ridiculous fees (like that oke "mentoring" epic riders) that end up showing the learners how awesome he is. I'm sure the learners appreciated it
  20. Hahaha, you did well considering the hangover! Shot, will let you know then we sommer make it a braai!
  21. I am extremely disappointed in this group ride for the following reasons: 1. The week before I did a road race and stupidly put some stickers on my helmet. I rode the entire Fountains and Groenkloof and NOBODY made any silly remarks about it. I only discovered they were still on the helmet when i took it off... 2. I brought a case beer (that's 24 for the non drinkers as I discovered they made up the majority of the group) on ice for recovery after the ride. I will not mention how many made the trip with me back to Kimberley (as it saddens me) because theHub is not a place to btich and moan... Oh, wait... Thanks SIR and SLick, was a good ride. Good to meet you Witkop, Patches and Sean (not slick sean, other sean ) Riaan, your beer is on ice
  22. He brought 2 guns to a knife fight
  23. Do it with the knobbies- otherwise just get a road bike. It's wrong in so many ways to castrate a MTB by putting that silly wheels on it The sound my Rocket Ron's made on the tar at the OFM yesterday had a few guys referring to it as "the Truck". Awesome to stick to a group and peddle with the bunch as far as possible- but they WILL drop you, then you just wait for the next bunch
  24. Managed a 4:03 (unofficial) on the MTB in the road race on full knobbies- think it might be time for a road bike! Awesome race, the MTN water point in particular was very well run and stocked!
  25. 7am for me too please, Groenkloof is a looong way from Kimberley. Mr Maxxis, please PM me you cellphone number so that i can contact you closer to the date, seeing as i will be off-line for the coming week. Thanks
