  1. Guys had disk brakes at the Satellite (VB) and also at the Centurion Rooiwal race (VA). Did not even get a mention.
  2. It's still marketing I'm afraid
  3. :-) I can post another pic when an inch also makes a difference, but I'll be banned from the Hub!!
  4. Hung like a horse might be another (not so hidden) advantage. Just for those that needs that extra inch or two...
  5. At Benoni Country Club yesterday with little friend of mine. His 1st cycle race!!!
  6. Was lekker meeting you at last!!!
  7. We came past (probably a min or so) after Eugene's fall, didn't look pretty!!
  8. Sunday morning coffee ride in VB, until Hekpoort... good day out - road sometimes a bit narrow for the Sunday cruise portion.
  9. Oe lekker Blitzer - see you in VB!!
  10. On a serious note - a looooong time ago Wiele Wentzel was my coach. I was a 15 year old laatie with a new bike (pink nogal) and short white socks. Money was tight. His advise was free, as long as I could keep up with him during his afternoon training rides. I suggest you hook up with one/two of the racing snakes during their training rides and learn from what they do right AND wrong. Easy, peasy if money is an issue.
  11. Whilst I'm busy with a performance contract for our project. 20% - upfront 60% - if you stick to the plan Final 20% - after you don't get dropped a Kyalami Or just buy me some of those R400 socks from CWC.
  12. Seems my suggested training plan will give Stricker a (marginal) boost after a month or so!!
  13. At 7-8 hrs per week with average quality training you should be able to cope in the A bunch. But not top 10. For 100%: Add intervals and go ride Vissershok/Tiekiedraai, often (puke a few times due to the hard efforts). Try a pass or two over weekends. Also drop 4kg. Learn how to ride gutters. Buy funky socks and deep section wheels. Will send the invoice via pm.
  14. Just so you know ASG made a plan for me last year to collect the number on the morning of the race. The process wasn't without a challenge or two, but it worked.
  15. Good looking bikes, but too much marketing speak. Which means the product is not that much better than current.
  16. Fulcrum/Campag all the way!! Have got a pair of R7's for training and Eurus (12 years old) that I occasionally race on. Both absolutely bullet proof.
  17. Great article - was hoping that the good old banana as race fuel would get a mention. Not sure how many grams of carbs (and the make-up) there is in one? Been my race fuel for decades.
  18. Seriaas? Probably the ones that formed part of the Great Trek. All the ones that stayed in the Cape remained Meintjies :-)
  19. Probably opted for the wrong spelling to accommodate the (lesser travelled) international crowd.
  20. It is actually Meintjies!
  21. From the start of the climb in Sabie to the turn-off towards Nelspruit is more 9km than it is 10. The flat section is right at the turn, and downhill part is towards Lydenburg. The climb starts easy at about 4% just outside Sabie and gradually kicks up to about 7-8% in the last part.
  22. Have fun and a safe one!!
