  1. Good point, let's re-phrase: Any one with an entry, (and going to ride ) is welcome to drop me a line, given more 3-weeks of prep has been done and a One Stop is not going to be used for the race food.
  2. I am sure I have seen that green machine on some Hermanus trials. True beauty.
  3. @ FanieVB and you can chat to me about the bike. Now you are going to sleep well
  4. 6. Amazing little workhorse. Bean running one for 4years without any problems making the third best coffee in town. A true "investment".
  7. What a bike, hope she's never seen muddy riding.
  8. Almost feels like spring is here. Beautiful riding in the Hemel and Aarde valley on trustee bamboo. Great weather, new friends, lots of bike talk. Seems like a perfect Sat morning ride...and then we got to the end-of-ride coffee destination, devastated!
  9. We believe every rider should be able to get a perfect bike. This might not be realistic, but every perfect frame out there adds to the ideal. All feedback is good, and positive feedback is nice for Friday afternoon, thanks.
  10. What!! a bike that was not designed around you? You mean that someone was sitting in a office and designed a frame without your measurements and expected it to fit. Crazy world were living!
  11. I wish I could claim that we are doing the welding in SA. (If you know of someone, or can weld Ti, please call me!) We spend months looking for someone with the skill to do thin walled Ti welding locally and only found two options: a) someone that makes aeroplane exhausts and b) a robot at the CSIR. Neither of these options could deliver a quality product that could be customised to the point where each frame is different at a reasonable price point. Fitment, consultation, and design take place in SA (Hermanus and Pretoria). Bamboo bikes are made in Hermanus/Pta, and we're working hard to bring you custom geometry carbon fibre Tri/TT bike made in the Western Cape. Welding outsourced to expert welders abroad.
  12. Hi, well done on taking on twins, again. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss details of design, software or jig building. Lots of small tips that will save you many frustrations. Millar 0641917329
  13. Very true. The first misnomer is the reference to "titanium" which is an element and won't be any good for use in frames or components. Different grades of Titanium Alloy e.g. Grade 5, and Grade 9 are most commonly used in a bicycle application. Each has its appropriate application. For frames Grade 9 should be used due to its positive welding properties. http://www.titaniumengineers.com/titanium-grades.html
  14. Listen to the wise men of The Hub (Bike Hub). Sell the Lynskey and get a custom engineered one...
  15. Starting to get a feeling the Ultimate Ti bike is somewhere between a Gravel bike and Hardtail 650b plus...
  16. Beautiful bikes from Bastion also one to admire is Metier Velo:
  17. Yes, there is nothing like a perfect beaded weld! True eye-candy.
  18. Such a nice bike, just too bad the water bottle spoils the picture. I am assuming someone with a bike like yours picked it up next to the road and will dispose responsibly.
  19. Hi, are you at CSIR working on their laser sintering? We were there a couple of weeks ago investigating the possibility of using Ti lugs for our carbon bikes. Impressive stuff!
  20. Boy, this is a good looking machine! Have you got any pictures of it out and about?
  21. We're looking for some ideas about building the ultimate titanium dream bike. Any recommendations from the room given it's Friday?
  22. Transition in a real cow shed. Nothing quite like winter morning cold and dust duathlon racing to make the lungs burn.
