Had the same issue awhile back used the boost axle but found a bearing with a 15mm Id broke the outter off and used the inner as a bush on the axle before installing. Latter had the axle turned down at a machine shop

Did this beginning of the month road to Heilbron was OK they are working on the side of the road but traveling at 120kph no issues, once past Heilbron the road is in good shape new tar surface and no potholes. Before Bethlehem it's a **** show and will always be once past Bethlehem all good

Time for a new LBS just replace the hub get one with the same flange size then you can use the same spokes just replace the spoke nipples with new ones

Looks like the cones just need to be adjusted correctly, unfortunately can't convert the bike to disks. The brakes are average for this level bike. Upgrading the shifters is not a quick fix you might need to replace the rear derailleur and cluster to get it all working. Suggest you rather save the cash you would have spent on Upgrading and put it towards a good used bike

I've had a few of these done .my machine shop makes a new sleeve to fit the original bearings and modify the end caps. Quite easily done
