  1. Wow, what an incredible achievement! This is a REAL World Champ. Not just an "old timer" world champ in an age category, a REAL champion of the future. Do people realise how good this is in such a benchmark track number? Chapeau Bernard!!!
  2. Nope, he only said it was "replica", never that it wasn't original! Remember, the proper stuff is also called "replica", but is proper Castelli kit. Also, Adiel only mentioned it was "fake" once we kept on questionning him about it! He is a scammer who only sells via a cellphone number. Dodgy as they come! Check out this thread and please show me where he mentions it is "replica"... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/62551-tour-de-france-team-kits/page__p__937294__hl__fake__fromsearch__1#entry937294
  3. I tried to warn you guys, but you just did not want to listen!!! He sells fake stuff and it sucks. I got lots of flak for taking him on, but I'll do it again. The more people who attack his fake clothing the more likely it is that someone else gets duped too.
  4. WHAT? They were sitting IN FRONT of the car? Real roadies would sit behind the car and be motor-paced and the weak would fall off and be left on their own! Sort of natural bicycle selection...
  5. I've had a Polar S725X for years now and have recently bought a Garmin 705. The main advantages of the Garmin is I can switch it between mtb and road bikes without having to get multiple sensors attached. You just clip it on and it works - no need to remember that you need to switch bike modes to get accurate distance/speed due to the difference in wheelsize. It also picks up my PowerTap automatically and 'guesses' cadance quite accurately. Up to now I have completely left my Polar in the drawer. The only time I might get it out again might be when I go for a run again, but as a bike computer it has had it's day! As for software: I use Trainingpeaks which imports both Garmin and Polar files, so no problem there. They both work. Battery life on the 705 is impressive. You can go for days without having to recharge. Just remember to shut it down after a workout! Nothing worse than getting on the bike and realising the battery has run down because you left it on...
  6. Recently they asked Adrie van der Poel, ex-pro and now DS at Rabobank, what he felt the biggest single factor of improvement was during the last 10 years at Rabobank. His answer: the move from Colnago to Giant! Makes you think...
  7. So glad to see so many of you urging people to ignore it! Best thing is not to feed the troll, despite your sense of righteous indignation...
  8. Cobbles? Those aren't cobbles, they are neatly arranged bricks with barely any gaps between them! Greenmarket square has much better cobbles.
  9. Well, to be honest Zipps are not really pushed heavily here in Europe (Holland and Belgium anyway). They have a big import duty slapped on them (as non-Euro manufacture) which I guess offends the frugal Dutch nature, but you do still see them around in the races I do. It all comes down to availability and support and Veltec (who have the distribution rights) seem to be disinterested in pushing Zipp as a brand. No idea why.
  10. Well 'made' is a bit of a strong word. It's actually manufactured in Taiwan and assembled in Canada. So I would say it's made in Taiwan. Oh, and a Dutchman designs them, so does that make them Dutch? Who cares, just fit your Zipps to your Cervelo like Thor and the boys do. It's cool. Euro cool even!
  11. In case you forgot what it looks like:
  12. You mean just like the Cervelo test team? Zipp and Cervelo I mean.
  13. My wife finds bike bits boring, but when she saw a pic of the 404's she said "Hey, those wheels look great. You should get those". So I did. Immediately. Everytime I put them on the bike it just transforms it and I can just sit and stare at the bike and I've had them for more than a year! Oh, they also make you very, very fast. Well, in my head they do and that is all that counts right?!
  14. Let's hope it doesn't die a silent death like the "Tour of South Africa" did. Big launch, noise on SuperSport and then.....nothing.
  15. Look, if you want the Euro pro's to ride it, then you have to have it BEFORE their season starts, but not so that it clashes with other tours like Qatar or TDU. Also make sure the heat doesn't kill them (like the World's View Challenge), so KZN might be a bit much in Feb to handle. Throw in lots of mountains and little transfers between points. I would love to see a coastal ride from the North, through the Eastern Cape finishing in Cape Town. Believe me, you want it finishing with the mountain in the background. can't beat that for an image (just ask the soccer guys!)
  16. What, you want another funriders Tour?! If you want UCI registered pro's to ride, you have to have administrators involved! Fact of life - even the Epic does it that way
  17. Lemond said for years that there was massive abuse of drugs at the top. You know what, he was proven right. What people forget (especially the haters) is what a great champion he was. He was the first American to fight for a space in the peloton as a GC captain. His battle with FRENCH captain Hinault was legendary and makes fantastic viewing/reading. The guy introduced timetrial equipment and came back from nearly being killed and won again. A true icon in my view. Americans should be kissing his feet, but that aint gonna happen. What they should do though is listen at least. Looks like some are starting to do just that.
  18. I like Lemond. a lot
  19. What the heck does the Edge 500 do with the course? It's not like it can draw a map. Does it do navigation?? First I've heard of this... EDIT: just read the manual. Looks like you CAN download. Hmm, maybe I should have bought the 500 instead of the 705...
  20. LOL Let me go and look for that "ignore" button...
  21. Oh, he deserved every boo he got there. He worked VERY hard at the front to get them!
  22. Well said! AC should have just sad "He attacked, I counterd, end of story".
  23. In Italy and France old blokes (and gals) sit at coffee tables all day debating cycling ethics, drugs, rider qualities, shoe colour, who was the best climber/rouleur/allrounder/style god ever. This is fuel to the fire and they will be debating this one for the next 50 years just like they debated on whether Ulrich actually DID wait for Lance and Ocana would have beaten Merckx had he not crashed on that descent. Every action and reaction gets analysed and one thing is for sure: this chain drop attack will go down in history and it will not be AC's most glamourous moment. Yesterday Alberto stuck the knife in and Andy lost his mr Nice Guy smile and swapped it for a fighting mask. Bring on the Tourmalet!
  24. He could have sat on and just followed them and said "I don't want to win the Tour like this", but he didn't. He is strong enough to win this Tour without taking advantage of moments like this. That is the point. He would have gotten thousands of fans by doing that AND still win the Tour, but he didn't. It's moments like these that define your image and your legacy. Right or wrong doesn't come into it.
  25. Interesting comments indeed, but with chainwatchers and modern equipment you would expect that to be an unlikely event. Still, it says something about Contador.
