  1. Pushing boundries is fine by me, but my question remains; what boundry is this rotor pushing exactly that you are expecting to trickle down to us? It seems to do nothing better than a standard one (in fact it sounds less durable), so it seems that it's only function is purely cosmetic!
  2. I think they all have an influence. For me the difference in "feel" by changing my wheels far exceed the difference of my carbon vs. alu frame.
  3. What the heck does that mean?! What the heck is responsiveness. Any engineering type term you could use to bring it's elusive qualities closer for us mortals to understand? (PS I have both an aluminium and a carbon caring bike. When I stand on the pedals, they both respond.)
  4. I don't get your logic. Why would components get cheaper if they are getting more expensive? If niche products get more expensive it only putts pressure on ordinary components to become more expensive too. Again, just sit down and think about paying R2400 for a disk rotor. A piece of metal that has to help a 70/80kg object stop doing 30/40km/h. Using very basic technology. Absolute nuts
  5. OK, I have to agree with the frog that I don't quite get what makes these rotors so special. Do they dissipate heat better, do they last twice as long or have they got some other magical property? Valid question from Mamparra if you ask me.
  6. The version I installed is the red one. Which did you install? 7. There are different version of software, so you might have installed the non-USB version! I did the same initially...
  8. WW, glad you are OK this time! You've definitely had your share of bad luck. Sounds like a real nightmare and I hope you guys can get back on the bike in time to enjoy your riding again. Sterkte!
  9. Oh, I believe you! Not only is it cheating, it's also illegal according to the road safety act. Rule 3 applies: 311. 10. "Tow you back to the group"..... Ai, ai, ai......

  12. It's also law to have a white reflector on the front of your bike, a red one on the rear and a "warning device" (read: bell) on your bike, but you never get any of the self-appointed bicycle police shouting BELL or REFLECTOR at you!!! Next time someone shouts WHERE'S YOUR HELMET, I'm going to shout WHERE'S YOUR BELL? back at them!!! The law is the law right? We can't pick the bits we like... NATIONAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 93 OF 1996
  13. Well, it is actually the law in SA, I'm just trying to clarify where it applies
  14. Where exactly? Only on public roads I'm guessing right? So unless the owner/organiser states it, most mtb trails would have helmets as optional right?
  15. That is such a selfish statement, who are you to tell admin when to lock a thread!? I don't care if you are rational and sensible I have the right to be ignorant and a totally reckless because I have personal rights and a keyboard and I reserve to type whatever I want whenever I want!!! Now get over yourself and leave my organs alone...
  16. Both your beloved hydration pack and saddlebags are forbidden. Real racers would know ;-) Here are my local criterium rules: It is forbidden to take part with: o Backpacks, saddlebags, pumps en reserve materials o TT bars. o Wheels with less than 16 spokes o detachable mudguards, lights Het is renners en rensters verboden om deel te nemen met: o Rugzakjes, fietstasjes, fietspompen en reservematerialen e.d o Opzetsturen, Triathlonsturen en tijdritsturen. o Wielen met minder dan 16 spaken o Klikspatborden en verlichting
  17. Not only is it not cool, but in some of the crits I race they state explicitely that NO SADDLEBAGS ARE ALLOWED! Weird...
  18. He wasn't the only one flying on a Planet X at the 6-daagse!
  19. Believe me, it's a Lightroom effect. A post crop vignetting. Only the very brave should attempt it
  20. It's probably intended! Vignetting is the newest rage in Photoshopping...
  21. You probably meant derny, not gourney, right? He would have been ON a gurney if he hit the derny!!!
  22. A tripple crankset and a flat handlebar. Why didn't you just order a hybrid bike from the start?
  23. Yes, did you not read the informative (and ominously foreboding) Editors note on the Bikeradar link? Sloppy work mr... [Editor's note: Mavic preceded Shimano by nearly 15 years with Zap, which was introduced in 1994. It morphed into Mavic Mektronic but production was discontinued due to reliability issues. Also in 1990, SunTour introduced the Browning Electronic Accushift Transmission, an electronic front derailleur for triple chainsets. This did not last long either.]
  24. Love the quote: "Our system is different to Shimano's. Their one is 10-speed, while ours is 11-speed. It will also have other different aspects too but it's a little bit soon to talk about it now." Yes, too soon because it doesn't exist yet!!! We'll figure it out as we go along... Campag has been trying to do this for years, but there skills seem to sit in the production of beautiful artsy mechanical bits. I'm a bit worried this might be outside their competency sphere. A bit like trying to make a decent mtb groupset!
  25. Don't know about the chainstay protectors, but the Lizard Skin mtb grips are great. Got myself some luminous blue ones that are just fantastic. Their handlebar tape is truely out of this world too. Every time I put my hands on them I get a spontaneous release of bodily fluids. Erm, I mean I get sweaty from the excitement. The stuff is super grippy and rubbery and even the white bar tape stays clean! For chainstay protector I would go with the innertube idea. I still have a real retro slapsock that says "Willie Engelbrecht Cycles" on it - from the good ol' days...
