  1. Talking about cutting yourself in half....I find them (bibs) uncomfortable after a couple of km's, kind of like "camel toe" uncomfortable if you know what I mean . Maybe I need to try some with longer shoulder straps? Yes, longer shoulderstraps should help, but I also 'fill out' my shorts quite well and the bulge helps prevent camel toe I find my Capestorm and Anatomics with, fancy blue Swiss inserts, are fine, but my Bioracer bibs do give me a bit of a reverse cameltoe (if you know what I mean ) 9 times out of 10 I wear a vest under my jersey which prevents the dreaded, and sometimes bloody, "joggers' nipple". Not a cotton vest, that would chafe even more when it gets wet!!! Else you could get some surgical tape and stick that over your nipples to prevent chafing. Just be VERY careful when you remove them...
  2. Indeed, but you could make the pole out of plastic, but I am sure someone will find an 'alternative' use for that as well!
  3. If you hit 200, your max is 200. You can't go above your maximum. Think about it...
  4. Fair point. You didn't say it directly, but I get the feeling from some replies that the mention of "on the N1" could have been misleading. Agree that it's pretty dumbass stoopid.
  5. OK, last pics. Here is the second last lap. This time Milram had caught up and were heading abreakaway! Silence-Lotto chasing. On the last lap I had some trigger photographic issues (flat battery!!!) Anyway, Gilbert managed to take some time and beat Terpstra by 2 SECONDS! Phew, at last they took a tour win. PS Did I mention I ride a Canyon like Gilbert and Evans? Thought so...
  6. Even watching the cars was fun. So much drooling... Why some of the BW bikes had green pave tyres is beyong me. Not really Paris-Roubaix!
  7. Apparently Barloworld were also there but if you blinked you would have missed it. Completely not part of the action and remember last year they WON this tour with Gasparotto! Willehond2009-06-21 11:59:06
  8. Dis payback vir al daai mooi Kaapse landscapes wat jy my altyd mee seermaak!
  9. DT, I'm just compressing some more pics and I'll tell more in a bit! In the mean time, don't you think this is a good idea for SA? It's a 'blikvanger' (can catcher) for your trash when you ride on the bike path. Somewhere to throw those gel packets?
  10. Milram chasing hard. Terpstra even has some bling custom Lightweights. Nice. It was very windy, but still everyone had deepsection wheels on! Except for Cervelo who had very, VERY deep section wheels on! (Are those 808's?)
  11. Lots of people were out on the boats on a cool day. Windy as you can see Hey, even the cops here have bikes.
  12. First lap Silence Lotto were trying a breakaway with Gilbert as he needed to take the lead from Milram's Terpstra. It would be close in the end. Very close. Here is Gilbert second (I think) with Boonen sucking wheel in a six man breakaway: Damn fast... Willehond2009-06-21 11:35:18
  13. All the teams seemed to have at least a team bus and a big support truck in the parking area. Loads of money here. Strangely Barloworld were stuck on their own outside the area. Outcast or just a good spot?
  14. Tom Boonen and friends visited my hometown and I had to go and see them! Tried to combine it with a training session, but difficult to focus. Luckily I could ride the last bit of the route and take some pics: Nice and narrow finish where they came through three times! more to follow
  15. I beg to differ mdk, that is not illegal. This is the bit where the N1 is no longer a motorway and bikes are allowed!!! Once you reach Paardeneiland you are allowed a bike. I used to commute this bit often. Being motorpaced by a truck is pretty stupid, but I have loads of mates who do it. I think they are nuts, but whatever floats your boat... The rest of you get off your high horses and get on your bikes. Stop moaning and go train!!!
  16. The SA event was a great success, but unfortunately the market is probably a bit small. A race in the US has a much bigger pull for sponsors Anyway, the race was lost to the US which is not in Europe... The logistics must have played a part too. Travelling down to Aus and SA must cost a penny, but it is still real bad news.
  17. Now you know what the guy looks like who makes the holes in the Swiss cheese...
  18. In Holland around 750,000 bikes are stolen per year! That sounds crazy, but often it is 'borrowed' by some drunk student trying to get home and who forgot where he parked his bike. That's why you buy the cheapest bike you can get with the thickest chain when you live in Amsterdam. Very few people have their bikes stolen out of their homes and I have yet to find someokne who locks their bike inside their house. Never mind chaining it to an object... My kids ride to school on their bikes and visit their friends every day and leave the bikes lying around outside. Usually they lock them. Usually. They don't wear helmets and they don't call older people 'oom', but I still love them. My wife doesn't even own a car and goes to the shops on her bicycle with big saddlebags (the bike's, not her's!!!). If you know my wife and her aversion for bicycles you would know what a radical change that is for her...
  19. Jou lucky, lucky, lucky bliksem! (dis nie 'n vloekwoord hier in Holland nie). They are both stunning. Plus I like the bar tape on the track bike. Nice touch! Come on, we need more pics and details. Weight, groupos and what it feels like to ride, etc... Just glad someone who actually deserves a good bike (to be competitive) acually get one. Enjoy!
  20. I have a pro+ and have ridden it through a freezing European winter with gritty, salty, wet roads and snow. Not a single hickup! Love it. Much, much more reliable then my old Polar power meter...
  21. The one on the right with tigh butt is Liz Hatch. How do I know? I'm a fan
  22. That poolcover is seriously oveloaded ...
  23. Any idea what there average stock turnover time is?!
