  1. You nervous yet? How's the training coming on in the snow? Lance is waiting for you...
  2. Power meters are not just about timetrialling, they also tell you your progress and what your training stress is. Like Edam says, read Training and racing with a power meter to get more details. I would just like to have all the data from my roadbike and mtb for training purposes and racing stats. Keeps me motivated more than anything else
  3. Nope, not suggesting using Speedplay at all for mtb, hence my mention of Shimano/eggbeaters...
  4. I'm actually more excited about the Garmin/Speedplay option. Hopefully it will be fully ANT+ so you can use your Garmin with mtb and roadbike. Well, that's my dream! For mtb's I hope they bring out a Shimano or eggbeater option
  5. Hey, I have that video for you! Ice mountainbiking (though I miss the bit where I fell though. would have made good tv)
  6. Eina! Yes indeed... Good luck and take lots of alcohol... I do have a bruised knee from when I fell on the ice with the mtb, if that make syou feel better?
  7. I'm sitting here at work after spending half an hour this morning clearing my driveway of all the snow and I promise you I enjoyed every minute of it! Like building a giant snowman. Don't know why people get all negative about snow. People pay good money to go see loads of snow!
  8. Nothing to do with hand size! It shortens you reach and drop, so it means you could go for a smaller frame size (as your drop is compensated for by higher handlebar position), but you might have to get a longer stem if you want to maintain your reach. It all depends on what you currently ride and what compact handlebars you go for! Some models from Ritchey for instance differ in drop according to the width you select and others not! Be careful and do the math yourself before buying.
  9. Says he with pink boa... Anyway, being metrosexual is out of reach for me as I'm too lazy. Shaving, aftershave, a bit of gel in the hair, deodorant and a compact handlebar is as close as it gets. I have my eye on this Ritchey number. Shall I go for black or white? Difficult questions for a metrosexual cyclist.
  10. my begging to differness related to the small hands comment! It aint a girly thing, it's a fashion thing (yes, it can be mutually exclusive terms)
  11. I beg to differ. They are quite popular and a bit of a rage at the moment with roadies and a move away from those horrid anatomic bars. Gives you less drop, so your bar can go lower, but gives a nice compact feel for racing/steering.
  12. Specialized claim their Body Geometry shoes have a 1,5% "tilt" to compensate for the angular 'error'. Is this a standard option worth considering or is it just marketing?
  13. I would not dare to try to follow you on that killer ride! Any ride done at speed is a killer. My list is more of a list of classic climbs where the heart and soul of cycling was shaped that I've always had on the todo list. A pilgrimage of sorts... I still have some classic Pyranean and Italian climbs on my list, but I'll leave them for another time!
  14. Look, the Marmotte was a killer with 5000m climbing in 176km, but that was on a roadbike! Doing it on a mtb is insane. Makes the Epic sounds like a stroll on the beach! What you doing next year?
  15. Managed to climb three of cycling's most hallowed climbs this year. Mont Ventoux in a howling Mistral Alpe D'Huez (as part of "La Marmotte") De Muur (van Geraardsbergen - Ronde van Vlaanderen) What remains after you have done that?!
  16. She suffers all your toys,so she's definitely a good 'un. Keep her!
  17. Oh, how amusing mrs Bikemonster must find this! Where did I put her number... Anyway, I'm with Tumbleweed on this, puppies are king. Cheap, draws them in like flies and their poop can be conveniently scooped from the ground rather than having to be scraped from their bottoms. There is a reason why people feel "too old" for kids - it's called experience.
  18. Just remember that a PPA 'A' is not equal to an Argus 'A'. Your PPA seeding has very little to do with your Argus seeding!
  19. Which is fair
  20. I've got them both!!! Well, the 705 and the 725x. I've had the Polar for years, but when the cadence sensor packed up, the speed sensor started to act up and the power meter....well, just kept on not working, I got the Garmin. I thought I'd use both, but I only use the Polar for spinning sessions when I need to record HR, for the rest I just click the Garmin on the bike (all of them have the Garminmount now. I know, old school, but one day I'll get an Edge 800!!!) or throw it in my back pocket when I run. Yes, I run with a 705. No problem. With the Garmin I've eliminated the Polar watch, Powertap computer, cadence sensor and speed sensor setup I used to fret over. Just click and go I also love the function of being somewhere I've never been before and exploring new routes, even on the road bike. Something I never did before gps. Found new cycleroutes in my own area I never knew of! Great little toy.
  21. Well done Daiken! Awesome victory.
  22. Read my previous post an dyou will know I think the DQ is unfair. That's what I think. Firstly, nobody is holding "him" back from commenting here, he decided to quit the Hub. He does what he wants. He is a big boy and not scared to speak his mind and I respect him for that (even if he does not always respect my opinion). We had long 'debates' about doping and I found the little fights amazing and fun. Just banter. Secondly, I have said loads of this stuff to him here on the Hub and in PM's, so I have no problem at all with him and saying it to his face. If he was here I would have said it way more direct than in my post. I don't shy away from fights and that is why I comment when people make sweeping statements about doping. I also don't care if you have ridden with me and whether you got spat out by the "groupetto" as you call it. What has that got to do with anything? I had loads of fun in subvets and I think it is a great league for people who want to experience a bit of fun amateur level racing. I am not here trying to prove myself a better rider than professional funriders, this is just my hobby. I do it for fun. For some it seems to be a reason for their existence and a personal honour quest. ...and lastly; the only anonymous person here is YOU! Show your face and stop your anonymous sniping. Sucking up to the big boys doesn't make you one, it makes you a sad sycophant. Send me a PM if you are afraid of people knowing who you are. I won't tell. Promise, your secret is safe with me.
  23. I am no longer shocked that guys take it. Here in Holland the vets/subvets are the biggest dopers and there are some rogue unions where no controls exist and it's not fun to ride there. I just think it's dangerous to claim anyone (even your mates) are clean, just as a beleive it's dangerous to claim everyone is doping. Give people the benefit of the doubt until they are caught. BTW I think the DQ sucks. That is an incredibly lame excuse for DQ'ing a team. Do it on the ride by warning/notifying the team, don't do it afterwards by hearsay! Why be so strict on the DQ when it's only a funride?
  24. Another famous Hubber always joined you in saying they all dope. You could almost say this thread is karma biting him back. Weird how baseless rumours and innuendo hurt when it's aimed at you, isn't it? You always laughed at me when I said you shouldn't accuse someone unless you have proof. See what happens?
  25. I agree that it was a stupid post, but there are people out there spreading rumours that vets/subvets taking stuff in SA (personally I find the notion absurd and highly improbable) without naming names and that is just as harmful even if it is baseless statements. Add the unsubstantiated rumours together and something sticks unfortunately. I think this whole rumour can be nipped in the bud if the original poster would just change the topic heading!!! Anyway, back to the real question; why were the results removed?
