  1. Very, VERY old news... Still, probably just as good as any commercially available overpriced mix on sale. Just like the best sportsdrink you can make is make is just as good as the fancy premixed stuff. Remember this thread? Asker Jeukendrup's home made go faster drink
  2. Like I said. I have a chaincleaner. I just think it's a pain in the butt to clean. Nailbrush works for me.
  3. Amen! Just pop it in the dishwasher, never had a problem. I have cheap bottles that I bought ages ago that just won't die!
  4. I bought one of those clamshell ones, but it's been lying in the toolbox for more than two years. I usually just spray degreaser on the chain (and only the chain!), spin the cranks whilst holding a nailbrush against the chain and the hose it off and re-lube. Works great and nu fuss. For occasional thorough cleaning I take the chain off, degrease it and use a nailbrush (R5?) to clean it. Clip it back on and then lube each link with a drop of lube. For me it's both the least effort and lowest cost option.
  5. I don't see the problem. It's like paying tax for being late. Sounds pretty fair to me!
  6. That really depends on the size of the condom and the....uhmm.....condee...
  7. I have to agree about the service aspect. Shimano shifters are impossible to work on, but then again, they are so cheap, you just replace them! Plus, unless you fall they are pretty much indestructible. Anyway, just for the record (if you read a previous posting), you will notice Mavic was the first to produce an electronic groupo, not Campag. It's all a bit pointless looking at who was first really (remember Betamax was there before VHS?). What matters is who was first with a commercially succesful product! Let's hope the new Campag electro grouppo is up to their road group standard. They might not survive another mtb group type disaster. Personally I hope they make a success of it because they are the one company forcing the Shimano's and Sram's of this world to make products which don't just work well, but look good too!
  8. Hey, I love the mechanical stuff and I'd be damn happy to have super Record myself, but for the real cutting edge I think Di2 has the lead. All the guys I know on Di2 swear by it and won't go back to anything else (I don't have the priviledge myself!) and wax lyrically about shifting without thinking and never missing a gear. I know that sounds like a small edge, but I'm sure Andy Schleck is quite happy to be riding it next year. Might just help to know every shift will work 100% guaranteed...
  9. I'd suggest some custom wheels built with Mavic Open Pro rims and most importantly: a PowerTap hub! Best training wheels you'll ever have. They keep you honest!
  10. Wow, "beating" the competition when they are not even in the cyclingnews.com list is kinda pointless... I like Campy, but they are seriously playing catchup to Di2. No matter how smooth (or not) their super duper group is, the standard is Di2 today
  11. even asking the question is unthinkable... (and what raymondc said)
  12. Sounds like a personal attack on "The Austins". Why the anonymous sledging? Rather stick to the facts and tell us what irks you ....and breathe. Slowly.
  13. thanks for making me chuckle.
  14. Everyone can improve (and should improve) their pedal stroke. It makes ahuge difference. If you have access to a power meter (on a normal bike or spinning bike) just pedal normally and see the wattage you put out. Then focus on the perfect push-sweep-pull pedal stroke and check the numbers on the power meter. That will tell you how much benefit you can get!
  15. What do you mean "misnomer"? Do you mean not true? You think this is a lie:
  16. I think you have inadvertently hit the nail on the head! You cannot "add" power to the system. The system is made up of your legs and the drivetrain. You can maximize efficient transfer of power from your legs to the pedals by fixing your feet to them (which the cliplesspedals do), but changing the ratio of your drive system cannot add power. All it can do is spread the load to the position in your pedal stroke where the the ratio is "lower" at the point in the cycle where you apply force and then "higher" at the points where you do not apply force so that, in theory, you move quicker through the 'deadspots' in your pedal stroke. It's a bit like changing gears constantly in one pedal revolution. I guess this will work for stompers who don't have a smooth pedalstroke, but I still think a big part of it is psychological.
  17. Glad to know I have better taste than rats! The marketing that worked on this 'white' was the little plastic thingy they put in it and then the cards you had to cut out and collect. My cousin used to mix his to resemble concrete setting before he would touch it. I prefer amore runny consistency, but the milk must NEVER be seperated from the pronutro - we have standards after all in Africa!
  18. Uhhhm, are you confessing to eating a bit of Chuck Norris in the morning before a ride?
  19. Interesting stats Mampara. It looks good, but it seems he was grinding a bigger gear on the Rotors (hence the higher speed/lower cadence combo), which could explain the constant heart rate. Does he use his power better now or is he just able to grind more with the oval rings? Not sure, but it makes for interesting reading! Thanks
  20. I agree Swiss. It's the only food thingy from SA that I truely miss. I completely forgot about it, but now I have cravings too. Plain Pronutro or the Banana one for me...
  21. ...but he might have spent more energy which the heartbeat might not have indicated as it taxed his muscles more than his cardiovascular system. (I don't know I'm making it up too, but it's just as plausible in this pseudo-scientific discussion!). Without multiple samples/controlled environment andproper measurement of energy (not power) consumption it's all just guesswork. This thread is useless without facts! Before we know it someone's going to come and proove the increased power delivered by powerbalance bands or red bicycles (we all know they are proven to be faster)
  22. You don't get more power, you just get better power transfer! They also allow you to 'pull' on the up stroke and get a 'smoother' pedal stroke. Once you go clipless there's no going back!
  23. This was last weekend and today we had more of the white stuff. Going to be sweet tomorrow!
  24. Swiss, why don't you like rollers and what about rollers with resistance? That sounds good - in theory...
  25. You nervous yet? How's the training coming on in the snow? Lance is waiting for you...
