  1. Agree, no need for us to speculate. Fact of the matter is that cycling's reputation took a knock and I will be extra careful going out on the road again. I have also decided that my training days on the road are over. I will focus on riding my mountainbike and will only enter closed road races. Just have to get through the last couple of weeks before IMSA and that will be that for my road cycling. Have been feeling especially unsafe on the road since December and this incident will not help...or rather the possibility of increased hostility from motorists.
  2. It would be good to hear the other side of the story as to how it all started. If it was an enclosed panelvan how and who and when did the passengers spray / pelt the cyclists from the back? Were they driving with the back doors open? Did they do it earlier while picking up the sachets? Or have I got it wrong?

    Cricket......

It grates me more when we lose against the English...In any sport.
  4. Thanks will steer clear then, black ESI's it is. With some red bar ends then. Yes, on a riser.
  5. Thanks will keep an eye out. Maybe some nice black bar-ends to round it off then with the clear grips
  6. A little progression over the weekend... Grips are just temporary, will get black ESI Chunky's. Would have loved 'clear' grips (anybody know whether one can get some) as that bar is just too 'sexy' to hide behind grips Note, wheel not completely slotted.
  7. Thanks Hairy, got an email to say that the tugs are on their way but we know what happened last time Good news, got my bar today so can add a couple of bits over the weekend...
  8. Also waiting for mine from On-One...Maybe we can petition guys like Rapide to bring some stock in. Can't find any locally or locally online.
  9. Agree on Terry from Xterra. Great service and I'm very happy with my wetsuit.
  10. Will hopefully finish it over the weekend, still waiting for the tugs though...
  11. Aaaahhh, the bike is gonna have a bit more red than that... Fork and wheels will be from the donor bike for now...Rigid XCR carbon fork and XT wheels with yes, you guessed it, red QR's and nipples (would have loved some red hubs but maybe later). Really looking forward to it!!!
  12. No ways Nick, I've got a RED cage and RED bb, wayyyyyy different The colours might be the same but where they will be will make a difference Beautiful bike by the way!!!
  13. My build is a work in progress as I'm waiting for some bits here and sourcing/searching for some stuff there... Shout out to Hairy so long for all his help and advice. I have been running a Silverback Vida 1 as SS with a tensioner but did not like the noise and look so decided to go SS specific... Frame on the couch with some bits to be added... Frame on workstand. The bike at the back will be contributing some parts. Bottle cage & BB fitted. New 33t On-One chainring fitted to crank from doner bike. Will update as soon as I can... Can't wait!!!
  14. Strongs to you and your family Dangle.

Spend Waaayyyyy more time on my SS, chilled rides with my wife and mates with load of taking pictures, creating memories and coffee stops.
  18. Silverback
  19. Very true!!! I mix my training up with slow coffee runs with friends and family and have also recently built a SS. It has opened up a new world!!! Pure enjoyment all over again, getting back to the 'basics'. Loving it so much that I'm gonna get a On-One Inbred!!!
  20. I enter Ironman and Transbaviaans each year. Forces me to train
  21. Glad you are ok and still an amazing time! Did you crash into a chevron or was it a racing incident?
  22. Thank you for coming out to support! Great having some extra motivation up Albrecht and that with a 'roboboot' and all!!! Could not have been that comfortable in the heat. Well done to your dad, that is an awesome time!!!
  23. There was a couple of guys in similar kit to yours in our group, Enduro/Endura or something? Second the thanks to the CycleWorld guys. I did a pull on the N1 for a bit but couldn't keep the pace for long.
  24. Maybe I'm losing my sense of humour then...but I have never found comments like that funny. Very true. I guess they check the roads the day before the event but there will always be broken glass around. Contributed by bottles and the ridiculous amount of car accidents we have. Traffic enforcement doesn't exist in Bloem.... Come to think of it, there was also an uncovered drain type thing on the way up Union Road which could surely have been closed.
  25. Almost forgot, thanks to the organisers for a well run race. Marshalling was also good and the traffic cops handled the intersections well...except when we turned into the Maselspoort Road a big Mercedes SUV (G class I think) came raring in and almost took the front of the bunch out...Can't remember whether there was a traffic officer present. I think they should also put up some warnings for the section of road where it narrows from 2 to 1 lane close to the casino, might be where the B crash took place? Last year there were crashes here as well. One other thing that bothered me was the announcer's sexist comments, or was it just me perceiving it like that? He kept going on about the dancers (which were probably mostly school girls) and what they got up to and the 'old omies' looking like they were taking Viagra etc etc.
