  1. Gravel it is then :-)
  2. Gravel bikes or MTBs? I have heard from some people that is was very rough for gravel bikes last year.
  3. I cant give weights yet, I had a bit of a delay on my bike, I am slowly starting to complete my build. So far I have 29" ZTR-crests and some other bits and pieces. I'm thinking of going withShimano 105 disc groupset with 2x Shimano 105 with 11spd 11-34 rear cog and 46/30 on the front. Looking forward to sharing some pics soon.
  4. I got the orange frame and slowly figuring it out and building it up, will post some pics soon. I found a cheap set of Stans ZTR crest wheels in mint condition online, but still need to get some rubber for them, the 2.1 MTB wheels are too fat and rub on the frame. Next thing is the groupset, was thinking of going 2x11, 105, see if i can find a used one for a good price. Loving this thread!!
  5. Great event but their are problems with the half marathon ladies results...maybe for other categories but I only paid attention to this one (where my daughter was racing). SASeeding have corrected it in the race results but not in the series standings (points)...which if you are a junior/youth racing for regional points then it does matter. Hope they sort it out.
  6. Ha ha...if you want people to see your crack after a year get Assos...
  7. Spent the whole day with awesome visions of that route, especially of coming over the "rock garden" and descending to the end with a huge grin on my face. Man, I love that event! To me it was perfect conditions considering the heat and dust of some of the recent weeks. Note to self...start the Garmin when you lie your bike down for the LeMans start!!
  8. Ha Ha...A wimpy brekkie on the way home did the trick :-)
  9. Thanks for a fun event. Great route, awesome riding...especially all the single track that forms part of day-1 of W2W. It was the second of 3 in the Pennypinchers series. The 3rd one is in Greyton...www.greytonclassic.co.za. Now you know.
  10. Anyone know who won? I'm hoping it was me :-)
  11. I did it...it was a unforgiving route but I believe less climbing than last year. Hats off to everyone who did it!
  12. Ha, ha, spoken like a suspicious south african!!
  13. Ha Ha, and guess what makes it even better...I just got a call from Grden Route Events to say I won the Lucky Draw...I wasn't at prizegiving becasue we had to vacate our accomodation by 12, but apparently they were chanting "redraw, redraw"...thank goodness they didn't. Eeeehaaa! Thats icing on the cake for you.
  14. Ended up being an awesome day...muddy yes, but great fun on the Bike...well done to all...especially Mixed Emotions who started this thread...great result!
  15. Could not have ridden harder...smarter yes, but not harder. Tough one today with cramping from 55km. Good luck for tomorrow all..
  16. You too...our numbers are 412-1 and 412-2
  17. We are also here...team Dash-1 Dash-2. Enjoy.

    Karoo to Coast

Couldn't sleep before the race, it was about midnight somewhere along the road out towards Baviaanskloof. It was actually a "she" and was trying to hitch a lift, when we stopped about 30m further on we waited for her to come and climb in but she disappeared.

No one has mentioned the Ghost of uniondale...we actually saw it last time, very freaky!
  20. Also did it...went off track a couple of times. Seemed a bit of a price to pay for routes we ride every weekend for free but then again we are from the area. riding through all that cosmos was surreal. Also whats the point of a medal with "mountain bike club" and no date or race title on it. Rather put the money into decent timing!!! btw...anyone found the results yet?
  21. My first one, heard its really good.
  22. Awesome event, nothing to complain about, great routes, great vibe, great fun. Perhaps on the Saturday night let the okes chow first before the comedian comes on...saw some families with kids that had to sit through the swearing before they got food...never mind the hungry riders! All in all a lekker event, 100% on the cards for next year!
  23. Hi, I've posted a clip of our 2009 Argus on my blog. Because of the wind, I dropped back and rode in a slower group and was able to take some video with my digital camera. Fun. You might see yourself, it was group DD. Funny how the wind doesn't seem so hectic when you blot it out with music :-) http://dig-zone.blogspot.com/ You can also find amatuer vids of Sabiexperience 2008 and 94.7 2008 on this blog. Cheers
  24. Cool, we have lots of footage, we want to get it to Fiona, she indicated she was keen to use it on the website, the video we took gives a good idea of what it was like in the middle of the field.
  25. I have posted some video that we took using a digital camera and helmet mount at Sabie for those that are interested, on my personal blog at http://dig-zone.blogspot.com/, you may even see yourself in the vid. Amateur, but fun! Cheers
